Minutes of the regu~r meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission,
April 17, 1962.
Members present were Anderson, Hankins, Hunt, Driscoll, McGee and Strange.
Also present was City Engineer John Warder.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Harold Green being present, submitted and explained the application
of the Green Brothers for permission to re-platt Lot-8 MeGuires Addition
to Port Angeles into residence lots, all of which would have an area in
excess of 7,000 square feet. Mr. Green presented a preliminary platt
showing the layout of a sixty foot wide street with a turn around and
the position of the proposed abu~ting lots etc. After a discussion with
Mr. Green, the Planning Commission offered the following as a' prerequisite
to approval:
l. The street be rough graded.
2. Installation of M~numents.
a. Furnish City Engineer with a cloth based map of platt.
With these matters included, the P'lanning Commission unanimOUSly recommends
to the City Council that tentative approval be given to the preliminary
plan with final approval to c orne at a l~ter date after the recommendations
have been complied with. It is further recommended that inasmuch as the
Green Brothers will bear the cost of installing the lateral sanitary sewer
at quite an initial expense, the hookup charge on each individual lot be
deferred until the actual connection is made.
The next or"der of business was the consideration of the applic a tion _of
Mrs. Violet Hurlong for a variance from the zoning law on Lots l-2-3-4 &5
and parts of Lots 6-7-8 & 9, Block 171, Townsite, being at the corner of
4th & Peabody Streets. Mrs. Hurlong's application is for permission to
establish and operate a trailer court on the property. Mrs. Hurlong being
present explained her plans in detail, not only as to construction and
operation of the court, but also her plans to beautify the Peabody Gulch
area involved. After a thorough discussion of the matter, during which
it was agreed the proposal would be a decided improvement to the area, it
was the unanimous opinion of the Planning Commission that we recommend to
the City Council that they approve the application ~oviding all requiremenm
and regulations of the state Board of Health governing the sanitation of
mobile homes be complied with. It is further recommended, a time limit
of mx months be applied on the construction of the project. The object
being to offset the indefinite delays experienced in some cases in the
past.
After further gener~ discussion, meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
