Minutes of the regular meeting of the City or Port Angeles Planning
Commission, May 19th, 1953.
Members present were Lamoureux, Reiners, Stewart, Gort, Hampton ~d
Strange. Also present was City Engineer Ah1vers.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approv~d.
Under unfinished business, the chairman reported on correspondence with
Mr. E. F. Hughes of Seattle relative to Mr. Hughes's Qss~ance in
making up assessment rolls for proposed enlarged local improvement
district.
Chairman also reported on correspondence with Oregon State College
with regard to including our Commission on their mailing list ror
future information about planning.
There were two petitions for local street improvements which had been
refered to the Planning Commission. One petition from property owners
in tho vicinity of 4th and IIA" streets, the other from property owners
in the vicinity of 14th and "Bit Streets. Both petitions were refered
to a special committee for investigation and report. Committee named:
S~ewart, Lamoureux and Reiners.

There was general discussion on the preparation of the petition for
street improvements in the Cherry Hill area. It was agreed, petitions
.should be prepared and brought before our Commission at the next
regular meeting for their approval
Thero w~s general discussion, proposed by Mr. Lamoureux, on tho
maintenance of various streets with the idea in mind of preserving
and extending the life of the present streets such as they are until
such time as local improvement districts could be formed for proper
grading and improvement. No official action was taken.
There was a goneral discussion on lack of inforcement of the zoning
law with reference to the granting of permits for building purposes.
It was generally agreed, the City was badly in need of a real zoning
ordinance and that our Commission should begin to give thought to the
preparation of a new zoning ordinance if and when we are requested to
do so by the City Council.
No further bUSiness appearing, meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
