Minutes of the r0gular meating 01' the City of Port Angeles Planning
Commission, May 17th, 1~~5.
Members present were McGee, Reiners, Hankins, Gort and St~ange. AlSO
present was City Engineer Ahlvars.
Minutes oT the last meeting were read and approved.
Two applica~ions for variances from our zoning ordinance were read.
Tne first being an application from Graham W. Ralston to permit the
building or a doctor's office and/or dental o1'fico on Lot-9, Block 29U
which is at the corner or 9th & Lincoln Streets and presently in a
first class residential district. The other petition was from Dr.
R. P. Moore at 705 J::;ast CarOline St. for permission to construct a new
addition to the present residence at variance with the restrictions
in the first residential district. Hearing date on both petitions was
set at our next regular meeting June 7th, 19~5. The chairman was
instructed to notify the building inspector in order that proper notices
could be posted.
A communication from Mr. Floyd M. Jennings, Planning Consultant for the
Association of Washington Cities, was read, o1'fering suggestions to our
Commission on making a study 01' the pro bable future developement in
the vicinity of the newly proposed Hamilton School which is to be located
at 8th and IIIfrt Streets. During the discussion that followed, it was
decided that Mr. Jennings' suggestions were very timely and the Chairman
was instructed to invite a member or members of the school board to
our next regular meeting in order that they may be apprised of the study
being made.
Chairman again brought up for discussion the matter of sewage disposal
as 'proposed by the POlution Contrell Co~~ission. Several phases of,the
problem were discussed from financing to construction. The object
being to familiarize the members of the conunission in order that they
may be able to discuss the problem at various times wit~ people in order
to further educate the public on the problem confronting the City.
No l"urther business appearing, the meeting adjournect at 10:00 P.M.
