Minutes of the meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission
June 20th, 1967.
Members present were Anderson, Dilling, Driscoll, Hankins,
Treat and Strange. AAbsent Hunte Also present were Director of
Public Works John Bo Warder and Building Inspector Robert Willsono
Minutes of the previous meeting were not read.
First order of business was a scheduled hearing on a
variance request from the Clallam County Library for permission
to construct an additional garage on the west side of the
present building which would be closer to the property line
than allowed in an R-l Zonee Mr. Leslie of the Library Board
was present and spoke in favor of the request, telling of the
necessity for additional garage space. Answering questions
from the Commission on the location chosen for the improvement
Mr. Leslie stated it could be better explained by Mr. Roline
their Architect who was away on vacation and not available for
the meeting. After discussion the matter, was tabled until the
next meeting July 18th. No protest had been filed.
Next order of business Chairman declared meeting open
for the continued hearing on the proposed Zoning Ordinance.
About 25 people were present.

, Chairman opened the meeting by explaining action by the
Commission on several items, including ITC" Street, 9th to the
Boulevard; Lincoln Street, 2nd to 8th; Hollywood Beach Area
and several other small items. All of which seemed to meet
with the approval of those present. Most of the balance of
the meeting was a discussion of the proposed zoning of the
north side of Front Street from Peabody to White Creek on
which the proposed zoning is designated as Residential BufferQ
Those present wishing to change to CAD on both sides of Front
Street which would give Front Street the same zoning as First
Streeto Lorraine Ross presented a petition signed by the
owners of 60 lots along the north side of Front Street request~
Ing the change in toning. Mrs. Ross spoke in favor of the
change, also Mr. James Willis, Mr. E.AoJensen and others spoke
at length on the subject. After the problem had been discussed
for more than an hour and all phases exhaus~ed the rhairman
declared the hearing officially closed and the meeting adjourned
at 9:15 P.Mo
