Minutes of the Port Angeles Planning Commission meeting of July
13, 1970.
Present: Hunt, Sannes, Dilling, Treat, Anderson, McHone and Young.
Absent: None
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal
Chambers.
Motion, seconded, carried that the minutes of meeting of June 22nd
be approved as published.
Old Business - None
New Business - Mr. Ron Lidster did not appear in pursuit of his
request for a variance. It is understood this request is to be
withdrawn.
Alpine Realty request for variance from sign regulations
in Cresthaven addition. There was considerable discussion on the
financial hardship caused by LID assessments on the individual
when so much of the property is unsold, making it imperative to
step up efforts to sell the property. It was stated the 3 -4'x 8'
signs desired would be more effective and less unsightly than
numerous smaller ones. The Planning Commission is not desirous
of setting a prescedent of permitting oversize signs in residential
areas. Motion, seconded and carried - we recommend this variance
be granted for a six month period and will be subject to review
at that time for a six month extention if property is still unsold.
One vote dissenting and one vote abstaining.
R. E. Playter Jr.- re~uest for variance from alley set-
back. Motion, seconded and carried - recommend request be granted
with no opening from the proposed garage directly to the alley,
but on the side of the building as per sketch submitted.
L. N. Ju~gman was in to discuss the possiblity of starting
a second hand furnitu~e store in the old co-op Laundry buildin]
at 3rd and Peabody. There may be possibly an off-street parking
problem that will have to be resolved.
Jim Bairey was in to discuss possible duplex locations
outside of RMF zones.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
8:20 P.M.
