Com~ission, ~uJust 1st, 1967.
Members pre~ent were Anderson, Di1linJ, Jrlscoll, Hunt,
Treat and Stran1e, absent Hankins. Also present were John B.
Warder, Director of Public Works and Robert ~illson, Building
Inspector.
~inutes of the previous meetin~ were read and approved.
First order of husine~s was th~ hear!nl on the application
of Fdwin Ma~bee to construct a carport at 129 Viewcrest, with a
17 root hol back inst~ad of the 25 feet required. This applIca-
tion had been held over fro~ last meetinJ to allow the members
of the Comml5~ion to become better acquainted with the problem,
which is caused M~inly because there is no redr entrance to the
property. There reinJ no protests relistered a}alnst this
application, after discussion a motion WdS passed recomnending
to the City Council a permit be Jranted to construct an open
car ort. It was explained to Mr. Maybee that he would be pro-
hibited from enclosing the structure at some future d~te.

Next matter under discussion"~s a letter from Durham.
Anderson and Fref\~ ^rchitectl,. addre5sp.d to Hobert ,'liUson,
Bui1dtnl Insfector, request!n, an opinion on the proposed land
use layout of the proposed new construction of the Daetist Church
at 6th and Laurel jtreets. It was explained to Mr. "d Jensen and
Graham Halston, bulldinj Committee members present, the Planning
Conrnission could not Jrant a permit in advance of the application
which ~ill be made at some future date upon completion of their
rlans. It w~s pointed out to the Committee, however that the
buildinl should conform with the line established by the present
structure which it is their plan to preserve. It was noted a
variance will be required on both the front and rear of the pro-
p~rty due to the Are~ of the proposed structure. They were in-
forme t the Commission would work with theo in any way po~!lble
~sppcially if an effort be made to preserve alilnment alonQ the
~th Str~et hold back.
Next, the book of propo ~d Zonin1 Regulations was thorou.h-
ly Jonf" thru, p!llf" by p3:Jf', to insure that each member was up to
date on all corrections and chan,es.
In addition, two more chanJes in the (roposed Ordinance were
discussed, Move, ,lOd passf'd. 80th are in Article VIII. 'ii Jns,.
Billboards, Definitions, paqe 49. The followinJ chanle in definition
was Made to read; "A billboard is an outdoor 8dvertisin; dl.play,
structure of siln. over 250 square feet in area, attached or
detachf!d, 11 lhted or unl1 }hted.1f On the saC'le p~1e, the next to
last sentence, referring to 200 feet, was struck out entirely.

Chairman announced he w~s retlrin, fro~ the Com~18sion,
it WaS then in order that a new chairo~n be chosen. After dlscussion
~J,C unanimous decision of the lroup was that Harry Hunt be named
tte new Chairman. A motion was then passed confirmin) the appoint-
ment.
