Minutes of the regular meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission,
October 6th, 1959.
.
All Planning Commission members were present.
John Warder.
Also present was City Engineer
First order of business was a discussion on a suggestion and request of the
Church of the Nazarene that they be allowed a variance from the zoning
ordinance to permit a business location at their old church site, located
on the North side of 2nd Street between Francis and Eunice Streets, an area
presently zoned as 2nd class residence. Their specific request would be for
permission to establish a location for a 2nd hand store. This request is mad.
in order to aid them in the sale of the old church property to a prospective
buyer. The memvers of the Commission wished to examine the location before
setting up a hearing for a variance.
Next considered a petition of property owners for the vacation of Jones Street
from 6th to 8th streets. Mr. John Thatcher being present, talked in favor
of the vacation saying it would be impossible for the City to establish
usable grades on the street and if the street were vacated, adjacent property
owners would be inabled to improve their property. The matter was laid on
the table until the members can look at t he location.
Discussed the proposed change in location of the water reservoir site in
Block 279. The proposed change is from Lots 6-7-8 to Lots 11-12-l3. Inasmuch
as this type of improvement is allowable in any area and the suggested change
would be an improvement as far as adjacent property is concerned, the members
present unanimously approved the suggested change.
