Minutes of the special meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission
Uctober 18, 1962.
Members present were Anderson, Hankins, Bunt, McGee, Reiners and
Strange.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The first order of business was to conduct hearings on two applications
for app~oval of subdivisions. One by Green Brothers for re-platt of
Lot-8, !'I1cGuire s addition to Port Angeles, the other by Mr. LeRol
Kittselman and Mr. Jonnie Key for re-platt of Lots 23-24-25 of " lderwood
Acre Tracts. Both applications were accompanied by drawings showing
layout of proposed platts.
Chairman read letter from Mr. Paul Reid stating he had posted both
properties on October 9th, 1962, giving legal notice of hearings.
Chairman also reported Mr. John Warder, City Engineer, had reported
both applicants had complied with all requirements previously made by
Commission, such as rough grading of streets, installation of sewers,
setting of area control monuments, utility rights of way etc. No one
appeared at the hearings.
After general discussion, a motion was unanimously passed recommending
to the City Council that the platts be approved and accepted as submitted
Next order of business was consideration of application of Mr. H. M.
McGee for a variance from the zoning ordinance to permit the construction
of a car port on Lot-5, Block 29 Townsite. Location of car port
on the lot to be less than the foot old back as required by
zoning ordinance. A general discussion revealed the location of the
proposed car port would be on the south side of 9th Street, West of
Cherry Street and at the top of the Valley street Gulch. Inasmuch as
this is all wilderness area on the side of the Gulch, it was brought
out the car port as proposed would not interfere with any adjoining
property.
A hearing on the application was set for Thursday, November 1st at
1:30 P.M. and the Chairman was ordered to so advise the Building Inspec-
tor in order that the property be properly posted. ~
The Commission then adjourned their meeting to meet with the members
of the City Council to hear a report from Mr. M. G. Poole, Planning
Engineer, who is conducting a study or our area to aid us in future
planning. Mr. Poole had two large area maps showing the developements
in our Community up to date, also some proposals ror future considerat~
ion. Arter Mr. Pool's talk and general discussion, meeting adjourned
at 10:00 P.M.
