The Chairman announced the hearing would continue on the
rezoning of the area between Peabody Street and Peabody Canyon from
Lauridsen Boulevard to Whidby and Park Avenues. Approximately 75
persons were in attendance. A petition of approximately 194 siJnatures
was submitted protesting this rezoning. A protest map had been
prepared showing the distribution of protests in the vicinity, but
the secretary cautioned the map/~~1y relative, as late signatures
were not represented, nor those in which the legal description or
ownership had not been verified. A lengthy discussion followed and
touched on over crowding, traffic congestion, lack of parks and play-
grounds in this area, manner of notifying the public of hearings.
After all interested parties had been offered an opportunity to be
heard, the chairman announced the hearing was closed. It was moved
and voted (6-0) to recommend this rezonin~ not be approved.
The Chairman then brought the application for rezoning Lots
6-10 inclusive Block 11 and Lots 11-16 inclusive Block 16 Puget Sound
Coop. Colony 2nd Addition off the table for 'consideration. Comments
from the floor were heard'," wi th no one speaking in favor of the
proposal. The Chairman then closed the hearing and it was voted to
recomr.1end the. request ,to rezone thi"s property from RS-7 to RMF be

Mr. Ray Robinson had requested a Conditional Use Permit to
allow him to construct a duplex on the south side of Park Avenue
between Laurel and Oak Strets. The area is zoned RS-7. A protest
pe ti ti on had been submi t ted in the af ternoon (11/9170) bu t the
protest map had not been completed. It was voted to table the
request until the next meeting.
Other Business -
A request for rezoning'Suburban Lot 39 was received and
scheduled for hearing at the Nov. 23, 1970 meeting. No information
had been submitted with the letter of application. Planning Commission
members felt it would be desirable not to schedule the hearing by
the Planning Commission and City Council so close together on future
rezones as a postponement for study by the Planning Commission creates
problems for both bodies as well as for the applicant.
A letter was received from Anthony R. Galgano thanking the
Planning Commission and City Council for their favorable action on his
request for a variance to utilize a travel trailer for living quarters
