Minutes of the regular rreeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission
December 18th, 1962.
Members present were Anderson, Driscoll, Hunt, Reiners and Strange. Also
present was City Engineer John B. Warder.
Minutes of the last two meetings were read and approved.
Under heading of unfinished business, chairman announced two hearings on
##iI#I#I### ffarriations from the zoning ordinance were scheduled at this
time. Chairman read a letter from Mr. Paul Reed, Building Inspector,
stating he had posted both properties scheduled for hearing.
First hearing was on an application of Mr. F. P. Fisher for permission to
construct a garage building approximately l8 X 24 at 531 West 7th Street~;s
being on 7th between Pine and Cedar Streets. In addition to storing his
car, Mr. Fisher wishes permission to~ conduct a small saw and lawn mower
sharpening business. Mr. Fisher, being present, explained the largest
motor in his employ was l/4 horse, the size used on vacuum cleaners and
there would be no interference with radio, television etc. 311ch work as
he would have would be conducted only in the daytime. tw. Fisher stated he
recuired this small business to supplement his other small income. After
mutch discussion, a motion was unanimously passed recommending to the City
Council that the application be approved by a revocable permit that would
take effect should any interference-arrise from his operation, also the
usual six month limitation be applied should there be unnecessary delay in
starting the project.

The next hearing was on the application of the Public Utility District of
Clallam County for permission to construct a warehouse facility and pole
yard in suburban Lots ll9 and l20, located at lath and "MI' Streets. The
members of the Planning Commission consider this a fine improvement in the
area and unanimously recommended to the City Council the application be
approved.
The Chairmen then introduced petitions and area maps that had been referred
to the CommiSSion fDom the City Council covering an application for
annexation to the City on an area roughly along upper Mount Angeles Rood
from the present south City limits to the Scribner Road. The petitions
and maps ware placed on file for study by the Commission.
Mr. Douglas Baker and Mr. John U. Wright being present, discussed with the
Commission Mr. Bakers desire to replatt a certain area in the vicinity of
5th and ItNu Streets which would also include the vacation of a portion
of some streets and the dedication of streets to replace the vacations.
The plan generally looked favorable to the members of the Commission, but
inasmuch as there are several details to be worked out, the matter was
tabled for the present.
No further business appearing the meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
