Identify Opportunities for Cooperation / Collaboration • ADJOURNMENT ORTNG ELES W A S H I N G T O N , CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE MEMO DATE: APRIL 19, 2010 To: CITY COUNCIL FROM: KENT MYERS, CITY MANAGER SUBJECT: JOINT MEETING WITH SEQU1M CITY COUNCIL As you know, this Monday we will be hosting the City Council from the City of Sequim for a joint meeting to share information and discuss possible future partnerships. The meeting will be held in the Vern Burton Meeting Rooms and will start at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be provided during the meeting. It is hoped that this meeting with help in building a solid foundation that we can build on for future cooperative endeavors. We plan on starting the meeting with introductions from each Council and staff memberr in attendance. This should include any special interests or issues that attracted you to serve on the Council. Following introductions, the two City Managers will present the community work plans and goals for the coming year. This will include an overview of the major capital projects and priorities that are being addressed in each City. The third part of the meeting is intended to identify potential areas of cooperation /collaboration between the two communities so please be prepared to offer your ideas during this part of the meeting. City staff has also identified several possible opportunities for partnering and we will offer these suggestions. Due to the time limits, we probably will not be able to discuss each of these ideas and suggestions in detail, Therefore, City staff will take these potential opportunities and prioritize the ones that we think can be accomplished in the near future and bring them back to the respective Councils in the next 30 to 60 days for consideration. At the conclusion of the meeting we probably need to discuss the level of interest of continuing these joint meetings in the future on either an annual, semi - annual or quarterly basis.
