West reported that the 3O% design has been achieved. Next step ia for 60% design. He asked committee
ononnhorm to p|oemu submit any uonnnuentm an soon as possible. /\ meeting regarding the overall permitting
for the project will ho next week with Corps of Engineers and all other permitting agencies in Seattle.
Permitting will he easier due tothe project is not extending out into the water which require more permits.
The public comment period is closed for the VVuy5uding signs. VVea\ provided u eununnury of comments.
Koroz reported that about two dozen oononnentm were received. She highlighted the three primary changes

anticipated as u result of public cunnnoen\e. The O,o\ was that more oon1zuo\ was needed between the

background and text oo the signs. Second was that the size of the signs are pedestrian-scaled and because
� of that need\ohodoubled-sidod. Third was that the map onthe sign u1 The Gateway needs\obu closer<o

the ground. Other suggestions also being considered include noting the walking distances to different
�
places. 9/eat added that then: will be an effort to consolidate all the different types of parking signs into
one design.
Chair Kidd expressed concerns about reducing the width of Railroad Avenue to 22 feet and tile impact on
trucks and motor homes in maneuvering through the area. West responded that the 22 foot width is the
same throughout Front and First Streets and that the Cobo was consulted on otn:o\ width and they are
comfortable with the 22 foot width. Perry agreed that 22 foot width was more than sufficient.

Next steps for sign installation will be to finalize the design, and then determine locations in the Downtown
and along major throughfnem. The actual number of signs has not been determined.

Entryway Monument
The City is proceeding with inup|ennento1iun of designs for the onbyvvuy portion of the wTlP. Two
concepts were presented and the group was asked to identify their preferred concept. West reported that
dedicated Lodging Tux Funds need to be used for this project. The area at the intersection of Front, First,
and Golf Course Road oo the east side of town was recommended umupriority. West distributed two
landscaping design concepts for that area that would provide year-round color while still being low enough
for cars to see over and around, and also be easy tomaintain. General consensus was approving o[the
"/\»o Concept". U}ed[bo] expressed onnoeroo about the speed |irni1e in the area and adding additional
landscaping.
Edwards reported that brochures are produced and being distributed. The Port &nAo|oo Downtown
/\aanoiu1ioo, Port /\nge|oo [\omiocaa 8msuoio1ion` and Chamber of Commerce either have or will receive o
presentation from Edwards. Y4cx1 steps include o press u:|coec that 8dp/urdo will be working on with T.
Pierce. Edwards is looking for other methods to distribute fliers. He hopes to meet with service u|uho and
conduct possible survey, maybe in February, to monitor progress. ynonoohonu| nna1eda|m include ubunuer

Myers reported that the }uo< planning meeting is today at 3prn. The City will be manning some welcome
tuh}oe at the Red [ion and Olympic Lodge. Volunteers wd\| needed to work the tables — see Kent \o sign

Kidd reported that a schedule has not been developed yet. A delegation from Victoria iy expected toswap
proclamations and upossible centennial coin may be ovaUuh|o.
Kidd reported that the goal was nncttu raise the $75,000 match. Olympic National Park is in processing of
hiring personnel to keep the road open. The rood will be open this year for Thanksgiving rather than
beginning in [)coennber as last year. She is hoping for better weather this year and our job now is to get the
word out for people to visit the Ridge. Increased numbers is cdduu| for the National Park Service 10

Myers added that next week several key decision makers will be in town to rernind them of the importance
of keeping the road open. He is doubtful that the community will raise that $75,000 again next year. 8o
this is an opportunity to bend the ears of our legislators. He encouraged the committee to thank the
|cgia|uh`ra for the B|wbu River project but also to nocudon there is ono{heructivity—Uunicane Ridge—that
needs their financial report. Myers distributed key talking points for the ounnnniUne to use in any
conversations with these principles.

Robb reported that the Port Commissioners are mzpoo1cd to authorize the consultant for developing the
master plan for Lincoln Park. Schedule will be forthcoming. 9|uu will need to be written before public
comment ietaken.
Cross-Town Route
City o1uff has nuo1 with Washington State [lepadnnout of Transportation (YVSK)()T) o\uf[ in preliminary
discussions including the).uuddoon Boulevard Bridge. The State has an interest in this project.
