Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the December 12, 2013, meeting were approved as presented by consensus of the
group.
Waterfront Transportation Improvement Project (WTIP) Update
Nathan West reported that, as a result of comments from PA Forward members regarding the Trail
width, design drawings have been changed to provide a 12' trail with additional 2' grass strips on
both sides of the Trail. This change resulted in changes to other design elements. Two other items
of the design are still pending decisions: trail marker design and the sponsorship memorial
concept.
Kaj Ahlburg asked what the added cost for those items would be? Mr. West indicated that each
item would increase the budget by approximately $6,000. Both items have been placed on hold
for the immediate future.
Work will begin soon on mitigation work required by US ACOE, including moving the whale
bone sculpture and planting along the west side of the site. It is anticipated that the project will go
to bid in April. A June start date is anticipated for construction.
George Bergner provided an update on bicycle tourism and requested a letter of support from the
committee for the PA Likes Bikes event planned for this year. Discussion followed with Kaj
Ahlburg moving to recommend approval of a letter. The motion was seconded by Pat Downie
and passed unanimously.
Chair Kidd brought up the Committee's membership and stated that the Clallam County Historical
Society had requested a seat on the Committee. A letter from the Historical Society requesting
adding a seated member and recommending Charlie Smith as that representative was passed out to
the group. Discussion followed.

Port Angeles Forward Committee
Meeting Minutes for March 13, 2014
Todd Gubler moved to recommend to City Council the inclusion of the Clallam County Historical
Society on the PA Forward Committee. The motion was seconded by both Kaj Ahlburg and
Wendy Clark-Gertzin and passed unanimously.
A discussion regarding several issues ensued. Those items included the closed Lincoln Theatre
and the Highway 101 corridor appearance. This discussion resulted in a conversation regarding
signage and street trees. The discussion resulted in two items being added to the "Topics for
Future Discussion" agenda item. Those items are the future of the Lincoln Theatre and moving
ahead with Port Angeles receiving Tree City USA status.
Member Reports
Jim Hallett provided an update on projects and activities that the Port of Port Angeles is involved
with.
New Business
George Bergner suggested that two items be considered as new business. Those items are the
consideration of promoting water sports in the Harbor and support for the High School sailing
regatta.

Chair Kidd adjourned the meeting at 8:35 a.m.
