Dear Councilmember Whetham,
On behalf of the Association of Washington Cities Board of Directors and staff, I want to thank you for
the service to your city in 2014.
The commitment to serving as a local elected official can be extremely rewarding and humbling at the
same time. The learning curve can often make you feel overwhelmed as you begin to understand and
manage the expectations of the job. During this first year of service, you have come a long way on your
journey working for the common good of the people of your community.
I hope you have taken advantage of all of the training and event opportunities which AWC provides to
make your service more meaningful and successful. If not, I would encourage you to contact me or
Karen Tanner, AWC staff at karentawcnet.or for ways AWC can be of assistance. Again,
congratulations and thank you for your service.
Best regards,
Francis Benjamin, AWC President
Councilmember, City of Pullman
