Over these last two decades, students have formed friendships and gained an extended family through the exchange prograin. Teachers have had the opportunity to see their students use the tools they've learned in their classrooms and government dilmitaries have united in a camaraderie that has carried on for the last 20 years. Representatives from Port Angeles who accompanied me in Mutsu included former Mayor Cherie Kidd as well as students, teachers and several representatives of Port Angeles. We were grateful for the generous invitation, and will always remember the kindness we were shown while we were there. Our connection is held strong by the dedicated members in the Mutsu International Relations and Peninsula International Relations Associations. Without the steadfast leadership and direction of our international coordinators, our bond wouldn't be what we hold so dear today. Those who participate in the exchange program, gain respect for new culture and the appreciation of those who work so hard to organize the events. The efforts that go into our relationship do not go unnoticed. To see the enthusiasm of friends reuniting after their time apart is fulfilling, and families long for ~ ' more time with their students. It is this longing that strengthens our program, and together, we can guarantee the longevity of our relationship, ensuring our success for years to come. It is our joint desire to remain steadfast friends through our mutual interests of culture, friendship, and our shared vision for thriving Cities. We look forward to Mayor Miyashita's visit in January and are eagerly preparing for his arrival. We plan to welcome Mayor Miyahshita, teachers, Odaira Junior High School students, the new Board of Education Supervisor, and the Coordinator for International Exchange-Amy Yamamichi, with the same warmth and kindness we received. Our visits are never long enough, but the fondness of our time spent together make our short visits worth every moment. Wishing you prosperity and happiness for years to come.
