We have reviewed the letter from the City of Port Angeles dated April 19 1999
regarding the foundation wall on the west side of the structure We have also
reviewed this with the City's Code Compliance Officer Pat Bartholick and been
on site to view the problems
On the west side of the existing garage there is a wood retaining wall in line with
the foundation wall of the garage This wall has failed and now the bearing for
this foundation is sloping off This has caused the structure to be in danger if
collapsing In reviewing this with Pat, we are going to need to get an engineer's
geotechnical report on the slope This report will tell us if we can stabilize the
slope and repair the garage foundation The estimate we have gotten from
Northwestern Territories for this report would cost $1 500 00
We were also informed there have been a number of additions made to the
residence over the years and the City is requiring those additions be removed
Once we have the geotechnical report we can see about getting building permits
and rebuilding some or all of the additions to the building code
This project can be divided up into phases and our fee would depend on what
phases you would like to do The first phase, which has to be done, is getting the
geotechnical report and determine if the garage foundation can be fixed along
with the removal of the non permitted additions Our fee for this would be
$3,000 00 The second phase of this project would be adding back some of the
additions Our fee for this phase would be $2 500 00 or less depending on
which additions you would like to bring back.

VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION. In all cases, a valuation amount must be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed
and may be revised by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 417 -4815 for assistance.
PLAN CHECK FEE: IF a plan check fee is due it must be submitted at the time the building permit application and construction plans are
submitted. All other permit fees are due at the time of permit issuance
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW: If no permit is issued within 180 days of the date of application, the application will expire. The
Building Official can extend the time for action by the applicant up to 180 days upon written request by the applicant (see Section R105.3.2
of the International Building/Residential Code, 2003). No application can be extended more than once.
