property, It IS your right to petition your assessment to the Board of Equalization on or before the deadline noted
above on this notice.
APPEALS: Property owners may appeal any or all values to the CLALLAM COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION,
223 E. 4TH ST., SUITE 18, PORT ANGELES, WA 98362, telephone number (360)417-2330. Petition forms may be
obtained from the Board of Equalization, the Assessor's Office, or downloaded from our website at
www.clallam.net/departments/
If you Wish to appeal the new appraised value of your property, you must file a petition With the Board of
Equalization no later than July 1 of the current assessment year, or within 30 days from the mailing date on the
front of this notice, whichever IS later. You will be notified by the Board of the date, time and place of your

SENIOR CITIZEN, DISABLED AND DISABLED VETERANS: If you are age 61 years or older, or disabled or a 100%

occupy your home (Prior to January 1 st of the year), then you may be eligible for a property tax exemption and a
maximum taxable value freeze. (Household Income determines the actual exemption amount.) Please call or VISit
our office during regular office hours for an application, or for a more complete deSCription of this exemption
program. Program Information is also available on our website.
Note: Participants In this exemption program are reqUired by Washington State law to update their Income information
with the Assessor's Office at least once every four years. They are also requireu to inform the Assessor of any
changes in status that may affect their entitlement to the exemption. Failure to comply With these requirements
may result In penalties as specified in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 84.40.130.
FULL TAX DEFERRALS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS OR DISABLED PERSONS: If you are a senior citizen at least 60 years
of age, or are retired because of physical disability and your income IS below $40,000, you may defer property
taxes and special assessments In a total amount up to 80% of the eqUity in your home. Deferred taxes are a lien
on the property. This lien becomes payable, together with interest, upon the sale, transfer or inheritance of the
property .
OPEN SPACE TAXATION ACT (RCW 84.34): Property owners may apply to have their lands classified as Open Space
Land, Farm & Agriculture Land, or Timber Land. The taxable value for land in these classifications IS reduced based
on "current use" rather than "highest and best use" or Fair Market Value. Call (360)417-2207 for information
and applications. Applications must be submitted by December 31 st for classification in the following year.
(Note: Penalties and interest charges apply for removal from a current use classification.)
DESIGNA TED FORESTLAND (RCW 84.33): Applicable to forest land properties 20 acres or more, taxable value is
reduced based on "current use" rather that "highest and best use" or Fair Market Value. Call (360)417-2207 for
information and applications.
HOME IMPROVEMENT EXEMPTION: If you are the owner/occupant of a single-family reSidence, you may be entitled
to a three-year exemption from taxes on part or all of the value of any new construction remodel, additions, decks,
garages, or other qualifying Improvements. Note: New construction does not include normal maltenance Items. An
application for this exemption must be filed With the Assessor prior to completion of the project.
DESTROYED PROPERTY' If assessed real or personal property IS destroyed in whole or in part at any time, the value
of the loss can be removed from your assessment by filing a Destroyed Property claim with the Assessor's Office.
