RE: 205 East 8th Street water meter installation
Dear Mr. Erickson
This letter is in regards to your request to place new water meters / service lines on the north
side of your new building being constructed at 205 East 8th. As you know the old water
service meter locations were on 8th Street. Upon your request your water service for the new
building will not be served by the 8th Street meters. As a result of the excavation-demolition
ofthe former building the City's water division removed one (1) servic,e.
The existing concrete sidewalk along Lincoln Street and 8th Street have several areas in need
of removal and replacement. Due to the improvements required for the sidewalk areas, the
installation of any new meters / service lines will be after you remove the concrete material.
All sidewalk or driveway approaches are to be brought to City design standards.
The installation fees for the water meters are based on the size requested. The meters will be
placed within the City's right of way on Lincoln Street. At this time, my understanding is
that you are requesting three (3) water meters of which (2) will be the standard 5/8" size, and
(1) 1" for the proposed restaurant. The fees for the 5/8" size will be $640.00 each and the 1"
$1000.00.
If you have questions, feel free to contact me at 417-4807.
Sincerely,
J/LfAqit ~

3.8 Module Protection (Multiple Nozzles)
For appliances that exceed single nozzle coverage.
multiple notzles can be used to protect that appliance
by modular1zing (diViding up into smaller sections} the

Exception: for deep fat fryers the maximum pro-

For a deep fat fryer that exceeds single

After finding how many nozzles of each type are required for a system. the sum of all the nozzle flow numbers is
used to determ1ne the number and SiZe of the cylinders required. in accordance With the cyl1nder flow number

The system can be actuated through various controls, in accordance With Table 3-4. To actua.te a single cylinder
system. use either the Mechanical Or Electric Control Head or the A+ Control Box With pressure operated actuator.
To actuate two or three cylinders. use either one or two Tandem Control Heads and a Mechanical or Electric
Control Head or the A+ Control Box with 1-3 Pressure Operated Actuator(s). To actuate from 1 to 5 cylinders. the
A+ Control Box with Pressure Operated Actuator(s) must be used. For applications requiring 5-10 cylinders the
BMCS.l nitrogen releaslng system is recommended. Larger systems. 10.100 cylinders, the BMC5-7 nitrogen
releastng system 1s the recommended means of cylinder actuation. For complete details of the BMCS-l and BMCS-
7 systems, refcr to each respective manuals, PIN B900002 and P/N B9000003.

HOOD/DUCT SUPPRESSION SYSTEM PLAN REVIEW
Project Name: Sergio's Hacienda
Address: 203 East 8th, Suite B
HID Installer:
Telephone:
System Installer: Alpine Fire and Safety Systems
Telephone: (360) 755-5444
Permit # 04-04
We have checked this plan and find that it conforms to the requirements of our ordinance.
The following items must be noted:
I) The exact location of the manual pull station for the system is not shown. The pull
station must be in the path of exit travel and easily accessible.
2) A "K" class fire extinguisher must be provided along with the system. The extinguisher
must be located in an easily accessible location, with the top no more than 5' off the
floor.
3) The hood and duct fire extinguishing system must be connected to the fire alarm system.
Activation of the suppression system must initiate a fire alarm at the F ACP.
4) A full witnessed acceptance test of the system will be required. This test will include
a balloon test, as well as tests of the fuel/electrical shut-offs, the pull station and the
fusible links.

Material and Equipment
. 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 15A blanket, 1-1/2 in.
(38 mm) thick, 24 in. (60 em) or 48 in. (121 em)
wide. 20 ft. (609 cm) standard length. The 48 in.
(121 em) wide blanket helps to minimize waste.
. Aluminum foil tape.
. Minimum 3/4 in. (19 mm) wide filament tape.
. Carbon steel or stainless steel banding material,
minimum 1/2 in. (12,7 mm) wide. minimum 0.015 in,
(0.38 mm) thick, with steel banding clips.
. Hand banding tensioner, crimping tool, and banding
cutter.

. Access door hardware: four galvanized steel thread
rods, 1/4 in. (6 mm) diameter by 4-1/2 in. to 5 in.
long (114 mm to 127 mm) with 1/4 in. (6 mm) wing
. nuts and 1/4 in. (6 mm) washers: 4 in. (102 mm)
long steel hollow tubing to fit threaded rods.
. Minimum 4.0 lb. (1,8 kg) density mineral wool or
scrap pieces of 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 15A
blanket
. 3M Fire Barrier 1000 NIS, 1003 SIL or 2000+
Silicone Sealant.
Storage
The 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 15A and 3M Fire
Barrier 1000 NIS, 1003 SIL and 2000+ Silicone
Sealants must be stored in a dry warehouse
environment. Pallets should not be stacked.
Preparatory Work: 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 15A is
installed with common tools. such as knives, banders
and capacitor discharge guns for applying insulation
pins. In order to install the duct firestop system. the
surfaces of all the openings and penetrating items
need to be clean, dry, frost free and free of dust.
1. Telescoping 3 in. (76 mm) Overlap Wrap
With the telescoping overlap wrap method, each
blanket overlaps one adjacent blanket. and each
blanket has one edge exposed and one edge covered
by the next blanket as shown in Figure 1 A and 1 B.
The visible edges of the perimeter overlaps all point in
the same direction.
2. Checkerboard 3 In. (76 mm) Overlap Wrap
With the 3 in. (76 mm) checkerboard overlap wrap
method, blankets with both edges exposed alternate
with blankets with covered edges. as shown in Figure
1 C. The visible edges of the perimeter overlaps
alternate their directions and appear on every other
blanket.
3. Butt Joint With Collar
With the butt joint and collar method, adjacent
blankets are butted tightly together and 6 in. (152 mm)
wide collar of 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap is centered
over the joint, overlapping each blanket by
3 in. (76 mm) minimum as shown in Figure 1 D.
In all three overlap techniques the perimeter overlap
can occur at any location on the duct.
The blanket is mechanically attached to the duct by
steel banding or by welded insulation pins and clips
for all three installation methods listed above.
For Banding Only (See Figures 1 A to 1 D)
Filament tape can be used to temporarily hold the
blanket in place until the banding is applied. The steel
banding is applied around the duct 1-1/2 in, (38 mm)
from each edge of the blanket, and maximum
10-1/2 in. (26,7 em) centers. The banding is placed
around the material and tightened so as to sufficiently
hold the 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 15A in place
against the duct. compressing the foil but not cutting
the foil.
