It has come to our attention that the upper few feet of the brick chimney on your
building is in a deteriorated condition Personal investigation has verified this
The mortar joints have dried out and cracked open many of the brick are tipped
out and appear to be ready to fall
You are therefore notified this condition exists and steps should be taken to
correct it by August 31st 1979 or the matter will have to be referred to the
City Attorney for action under the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings Code

Dear Mr. Wilson,
The following changes shall be made On the plans for the storage
mezzanine for the Olympic Laundry, in Port .Angeles:
1 All partitions shall be of one hour construction. 2x4 stud framing
on 16" °entera °with 5/8" gypsum wallboard, type X, on both sides,
nailed with 5d cooler nails 7" o.c. on edges, 12" 'o.c. interiors.
Relights in these partitions shall. be wire glass. Doors thru these
partitions shall be 20 min. U/L labeled With. olosers.
2. The ceiling of the storage room below the mezanine shall be covered
with 5/8 type g, gypsum wallboard, nailed as
3. The dropped ceiling in the existing Counter area Shall be metal. rails
tee -bar grid system) with 1 hour rated acoustical tiles with
restraining clips. Light fixtures shall be set in the grid system and
be similarly rated.

Facts concerning the fir4in tho alley at the Olympic
Laundry and Cleaners located at 418 S. Lincoln St.., Port Angeles, Washington,
on the afternoon of March 5,19761 viz
1 Application, of an Owens-Corning. iberglas210 TIC roof 'specification
Was being applied to a portion, of thef'Clympic Laundry and Cleaners
roof
2. I was standing at the side of tho asphalt kettle,botween the kettle
and the the north wall of ni the Laundry Dry Cleaning Department,
facing oast, when a heavy' sprinkle of of clear liquid began falling
in front of me. I backed away (toward the west) so I could look
up to soo where it was coming from. There was a flash of flue covering
the area where I had been standing, under and around the equipment
and material includind the flat-bed truck.
3. I had just checked the temperature of the kettle which was 400 degrees
Fahrenheit.

4. It is evident that the clear liquid vina, namable material which vapor-
ized and was ignited by the kettle burner resulting in the confla-
gration which followed.
