Mayor Sissi Bruch
Port Angeles City Hall
321 E. Fifth. Street
Port Angeles, WA 98362
Dear Sissi,
I am outraged at the ignorance, prejudice and brutish slandering which
you've endured these past weeks. I've known Cherie Kidd for 20 years now as I.
worked closely with her at Kiwanis — and have noted her "good olde whitey boy"
mentality re Port Angeles' hallowed traditions.
I've also wondered how it is that a few citizens, led often by our self-
appointed artist laureate Stokes, seem to be able to pull off installing their own
narrow visions of patriotic representations - presumably speaking for all citizens.
Examples are the headless (mindless?) sculptures on the sidewalks downtown, the
desecration of the serenely designed Frances Street Park with the rusted shard from
the World Trade Center, and now the imprisoned Liberty Bell.
I have been a fan of yours since we first met some years ago and you
admired my Sequoia grove in the backyard on Caroline Street. From what I've
heard and read, you've been a force for balance and wise governance. The
divisiveness has been stirred up is a microcosm of what's going on throughout the
nation. (At least, the indignant and self-righteous vets weren't shouting "Lock
Her Up"! (bad joke)
Keep ON, honest Mayors c- w
P.S. My letter to the editor was written after only the first article — I should have
waited until after the second article re the contentious meeting. Take care of
yourself!! ! -7 r . ` f
