CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Barnard called the regular meeting of the Public Safety Advisory Board to order at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Members Present: Alan Barnard, Evan Brown, Kathleen Graf, Lourene O’Brien, Alan Oman, Kiara
Schmitt, Teresa Sesma-Meyers, Thomas Mitchell, Shana Scott, Dr. Ed Zoble
Members Absent:
Staff Present: Ken Dubuc, Fire Chief; Brian Smith, Police Chief; Jason Viada, Deputy Police Chief
Guest: Anne Chastain, Clallam County Emergency Manager
NEW BUSINESS:
New Member:
Port Angeles School District employee/applicant Kelsey Lane introduction and voting – Kelsey was voted
by the Board as recommended to Council replace School District employee Nolan Duce on the PSAB.
Nolan resigned from the PSAB and the School District recommended Kelsey.
Port Angeles Police Department Report:
Chief Smith and Deputy Police Chief Viada spoke on the following:
1.Community Participation: Presentation by Chief Viada
2.New WA State Regulations regarding police use of deadly force. Chief Viada and Chief Smith
3.Independent investigation teams. PAPD Detectives (Sgt. Tyler Peninger, Sgt. Kori Malone, Sgt.
Josh Powless, Corporal David Arand, Detective Shane Martin, Detective Jeff Ordona, Detective
Erik Smith,
4.PSAB Board Members interview detectives assigned to the Independent Investigative Team.
Port Angeles Fire Department Report:
Report given by Chief Dubuc.
ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Barnard adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
