Dear Governor Inslee:
This letter bears immense gratitude for your decisive actions to protect our community during
the COVID-19 pandemic, issuing the"Stay Home, Stay Safe" order that has allowed
communities in Washington state to remain safe, and allowing the curve of infection to be
lessened through the "Safe Start Plan." More specifically, we thank you for your ongoing
leadership on the eviction moratorium. The City has watched with appreciation the numerous
critical extensions and enhancements you have provided to date.
Last night at the regular City Council meeting, the Port Angeles City Council unanimously
approved to "resolve that the City of Port Angeles supports extending the state eviction
moratorium through March 31, 2021." We request your immediate and full support for the
continued eviction moratorium relief provided to our citizens. This action will have direct
impact on families and the local workforce. We recognize this is also a statewide issue, but due
to the historic unemployment challenges in Port Angeles and our far lower than State average
incomes, this issue, if not addressed, stands to be catastrophic for our local community and
economy.
We have watched closely and appreciate the State funding already dedicated to rental relief,
but more solutions are necessary. The City asks for your continued support in extending the
moratorium on evictions to accommodate the challenges faced by families and businesses who
are facing pandemic related hardships.
Governor, families need this support to get through the challenges of COVID-19. Your strong
commitment to the families of Washington state, and for cities like Port Angeles, will ensure

that every Washingtonian has the resources they need to recover from COVID-19 and with time
look forward to better days.
Sincerely,
