MEMORANDUM
TO : Water/Sewer Division
FROM : Ken Ridout, Deputy Direct6~ ,~'--
SUBJECT : Underground Bore of U. S. 101 for Golden Corral
On November 7, 1988, we received word from Sylvia Johnson of Golden Corral (Real
Estate Development Division) that the construction of the Golden Corral Restaurant
in Port Angeles is on hold. According to Ms. Johnson, they have not made a decision
either way in regards to a restaurant for Port Angeles. Because of this latest
development it appears that it will not be necessary to do the underground boring
of 101 for water and electrical services to the Golden Corral area at this time, and
any plans to complete this project should be put on hold until further notice.

Water/Sewer Utility Costs
Dear Mr. Romig:
As we discussed on the telephone Wednesday (06/01/88), it would
be appreciated if you would review the enclosed information and give
me cost estimates for the water and sanitary sewer service required
to provid~ those utilities to the lot line in front of the proposed
restaurant building. A typical Golden Corral Restaurant requires
approximately 3,000 gallons of water per operating day.
Thank you very much for your assistance in this regard.
Very truly yours,
oseph W. Fink

RE: Development of Golden Corral Restaurant in Port Angeles,
Washington
Dear Sirs:
Representatives of the City of Port Angeles met with Mr. Sopher and Mr.
Vanderbroek representing Golden Corral on October 1, 1987. The purpose of
the meeting was to resolve several issues relating to utility service for your
proposed restaurant in Port Angeles.
While many small details are left to be worked out, we were able to reach
agreements and understanding on the following:
Sanitary Sewer
Golden Corral will access the existing sanitary sewer by extending an
8-inch (PVC) sanitary sewer line from their property westerly (approximately
700-feet) along the north side of Highway 101. It is anticipated that
three new manholes will be required along this 700 foot sewer line (see
sketch for approximate location).
Electrical Power
Port Angeles City Light will extend its existing power system across
Highway 101 to the north side. Golden Corral would then serve this site
via this service. Estimated cost to Golden Corral is $5,700.
Portable/Domestic/Fire Water
The City of Port Angeles Public Works Department will extend a 10-inch
existing water line across Hwy. 10! to the north side (See sketch for
approximate location). Golden Corral would then serve their site for
domestic, sprinkler and fire needs by extending this 1 O-inch line
(approximately 500 feet) to their property and setting a fire hydrant at
their expense.

I would like to thank Mr. Sopher for taking the time to sit down with our people
and work through these solutions.
We are very happy to have Golden Corral coming to Port Angeles and look
forward to the opportunity to work with you on this project.
