HomeMy WebLinkAbout2.17.22 MinutesPage 1 of 1 PORT ANGELES PARKS, RECREATION & BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MEETING Port Angeles, Washington February 17, 2022 CALL TO ORDER – REGULAR MEETING: Director Delikat called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Commissioners Collins, Forrest, Hodgson, McGuire. Members Absent: Commissioners Cripe, Harp, Milburn & Student Representative Glore. Staff Present: Director Delikat, Manager Bright & Secretary Straits. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Commissioner Forrest moved to approve the January 20, 2022 minutes. Commissioner McGuire seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. LATE ITEMS: Director Delikat provided the Commission with an update on the proposed Joint Public Safety Facility and Volunteer Practice Field, a potential site for the facility. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. FINANCE & PACKET ITEMS: Director Delikat reviewed the current Revenues and Expenditures Report. LEGISLATION: None. GUEST SPEAKERS: Paul Forrest provided a presentation on “City Shade; a progress report for a Port Angeles Street Tree Program.” DIRECTOR’S REPORT: 1. Departmental Updates a) Sharps Container Program: Director Delikat provided the Commission with information on the City’s newly established Sharps Container Program. Maximum security sharps containers are expected to be installed at various City Parks and Facilities next month. b) Civic Field Waterline Repairs: To avoid additional water leaks, staff are currently performing waterline repairs at Civic Field. c) Gateway Repairs: Staff have made temporary repairs using recycled materials of the damaged railing following the Gateway Accident in December 2021. d) SEPA Application Cemetery Trees: Hazardous trees, located on an eroding bluff at Ocean View Cemetery, require removal. The department has submitted a SEPA application to the Community & Economic Development Department. e) Lincoln Park BMX Construction Project: The Lincoln Park BMX Association will be granted approval to remove two trees for a construction project at the BMX Track. A mitigation plan will be provided. f) Turf Tank Update: A replacement Turf Tank is being provided by the company after the original Turf Tank malfunctioned. g) Commission Interview Information: Director Delikat discussed upcoming interviews for the vacant positions on the Commission. h) Parks & Recreation Staff Update: The department is currently seeking an Administrative Specialist. Current Administrative Specialist, Jessica Straits, is transitioning to a new position with the City.
