We have been working with you to find out about the septic system for your property at 424 Fast Third Street. On December 13, 1999 your drainfield was located and J'Jtermined to be a drywell. Mel Thom inserted a metal probe ane' contacted what appeared to be sewage at about 4 feet. We are unable at this time to determine whether the septic oystem for the 5-bedroom home on this property is working adequately. We "ill agree to allow the uoe of this existing system with the understanding that in the following months we will need to monitor the drainfield and area around it. We will conduct several site visits once your property is occupied. Please be aware that Clallam County Code (CCHR) 4.030 states "Sewage from any on- site system shall not be discharged to surface water or upon the surface of the ground." Surfacing sawage Is a sign of on-site sewage system failure. If we sea sewage on the ground or going Into Peabody Creek, it wiil be considered a failed system. If It Is determined that your ~ystem Is failing, we will require that you hook up to the Port Angeles city sewer. According to WAC 246-272-07001 (1), In the event of an on-site sewage system failure, the local health officer m~.y require the owner to hook up to the sowor If thero Is a connoctlon available within two hundred foot of tho resldenco.
