HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks 1.20.22 MinutesPage 1 of 1 PORT ANGELES PARKS, RECREATION & BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MEETING Port Angeles, Washington January 20, 2022 CALL TO ORDER – REGULAR MEETING: Director Delikat called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Commissioners Collins, Cripe, Forrest, Hodgson, McGuire, Milburn & Student Representative Glore. Members Absent: Commissioner Harp. Staff Present: Director Delikat, Manager Bright & Secretary Straits. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Commissioner Forrest moved to approve the Nov 18, 2021 minutes. Commissioner McGuire seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. LATE ITEMS: None. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. FINANCE & PACKET ITEMS: Director Delikat reviewed the current Revenues and Expenditures Report. LEGISLATION: None. GUEST SPEAKERS: None. DIRECTOR’S REPORT: 1. Departmental Updates a) Banner Rental Program: The Banner Rental Program has been suspended after a Request for Proposal (RFP) closed with no plausible bids. The department hopes to reestablish the program and will publish another RFP in March 2022. b) Erickson Playfield Tree Mitigation: The Parks & Recreation Department has completed Phase 1 of the tree mitigation plan. Additional phases will occur later this year, after the development of the park’s turf and installment of the new pump track. Additionally, the access road adjacent to the calisthenics park will be closed to vehicles beginning this month. c) Gateway Accident: Director Delikat briefed the Commission on a vehicle accident that occurred at the Gateway in December 2021. Repairs to the damaged ADA railing will take time while the City is currently working on a repair contract to put out to bid. d) Turf Tank: The Turf Tank was delivered in December 2021. The department is excited to begin using the product on its fields later this year. e) Sharps Container Program: Director Delikat will provide information next month, after meeting with PAFD. f) Warming Center: The Commission was briefed on the warming center held at the Senior Center in December 2021. g) Olympic Discovery Trail Updates: The Parks & Recreation Department received approval from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife to complete eight additional sections of the trail under the current Hydraulic Project Approval (HPA). As of the week of January 28th, those sections were fixed by the Contractor 2 Grade. h) Facility Use Agreement: Director Delikat has been working with the Feiro Marine Life Center to draft a new Facility Use Agreement (5 years). This agreement will be going for approval to the City Council at the February 1st meeting. Additionally, he discussed the lease between the City and the Red Lion for 402 S Valley St. i) Commission Vacancies: There are two vacancies on the Commission. Director Delikat discussed the application and interview process. ADJOURNMENT: Chairperson Collins adjourned the meeting at 6:39p.m. The next meeting will be held on February 17, 2022.
