Dear City Council,
I am writing in support of the moratorium for short term rentals.
My support is based on my personal experience as a renter here in Port Angeles. Anecdotally, if you search airbnb in our area and compare that to all available long term rentals, the
ratio is approximately 25 to 1. This moratorium would create more immediate long term rental options and decrease the probability of unjust rent increases, for which there are currently
no protections.
This said, I think it would be okay to allow rentals to continue through the end of the tourist season. Alternatively, allow short-term rentals, but at a significant tax rate to fund
public housing and/or a first-time buyer program.
