ATTENTION CONTRACTORS. Submit all bids to the Port Angeles
Housing Rehabilitation Program office no later than Friday,
September 7, 1995.
PROJECT A (HEALTH AND SAFETY REPAIRS)
l)Remove the vines and shrubbery on the East and SE sides of
the house. Vegetation should be cleared approximately 4'-6'
away frame the house, include any vegetation/branches
hanging on the roof of the house. -
2)Eliminate earth/wood contact along the south side of the
house. Include removal of grass and brush.
3)Complete extermination of powder post beetles and other
wood destroying insects and organisms.
0400 l)Basement entry. Install a concrete step and pad
2)East bedroom entry. Install a new concrete slab/sidewalk
and entry step. Excavate along the wall adjacent'to the
kitchen and clean out the crawl space vent.
3)Basement/exterior. Install new sidewalk and steps from the
rear entry to the upper side yard/driveway area. Include a
handrail on the steps.
4)Front entry. Install new concrete steps and pad to code.

0600 l)Basement: Replace the damaged subfloor and framing. Note:
at this time it is difficult to determine the extent of the
repairs necessary to properly complete this project.
Contractors to specify a "not to exceed" material and labor
allowance in the bid.
2)Kltchen: Install new base cabinet and plastic laminate
countertop and backsplash (approx. 9 If-L shaped
configuration). Cabinet to replace utility cabinet on the
east wall.
3)Kitchen: Install new upper wall cabinets. Wall cabinets to
wrap into the window.
4)Living room: Remove the existing wall heater frame in the
fireplace and close off the fireplace opening with paneling
to match the existing as close as possible.

l)Bathroom/east bedroom: Install a new prehung hollow
door package with a privacy lock on the east bedroom
doorway. Trim and finish both sides. Stain and finish
paint the door and trim.

2)SW bedroom. Modify the window opening on the west wall and
install a new vinyl framed single hung window with
insulating glass. Trim and finish the interior and exterior.
Stain and finish or paint the trim. Note: this must be a
proper egress window.

and carpeting.
0900 l)Basement. Replace water damaged sheetrock in tQe east
basement area.
2)Bathroom. Sheetrock, tape. finish and paint the wall and
ceiling areas.

bedroom wall and ceiling areas.
1500 l)Bathroom. Install a new toilet package.
2)Bathroom: Install a new 36" vanity sink package.
3)Kitchen. Install a new double tub stainless steel or
porcelain enamel sink.package with a hand !leld sprayer
attachment. Include installation of shutoff valves under the

2)Kitchen: Install a new kitchen range/oven. (Material
allowance is $500.00)
l)East bedroom entry: Install a new motion sensor or
dusk/dawn exterior security light and connect to a new
switch to be located inside the bedroom entry.
2)Basement entry. Install a new motion sensor or dusk/dawn
exterior security light and connect to a new switch to be
located inside the entry area near the doorway.
3)East bedroom addition. Install (2) additional outlets.
4)East bedroom addition: Install a new ceiling light fixture
and connect to the existing switch near the entry.
5)Bathroom: Install a new'GFI protected outlet near the
sink.
6)Install a new 200 amp service panel complete.
7)Safe up all accessible electrical outlets, fixtures,
junction boxes, switches, and wiring. Insure that all 3-
prong outlets are properly grounded an~ all other outlets
have proper polarity. Insure that all fixtures, outlets,
switches, and connections have proper junction boxes and
cover plates.

8)Install new hardwired smoke alarms with battery back-up
throughout the house to code. Include and alarm in the
unfinished basement' area. All smoke alarms to be inter-tied.
9)Dining area. Install a new ceiling light fixture and
connect to existing switch near the doorway.
10)Kitchen. Insure that eXisting outlets near the sink have
GFI protection.
11)Kitchen: Install (1) additional GFI protected outlet near
the sink.
12)Kitchen. Install a new 2-foot/2-tube florescent type
ceiling light fixture over the kitchen sink and connect to a
new switch to be located near the sink area.

13)Frontentry. Install a new front entr~ light and connect
to the existing switch inside the entrya~ea.
~L ,14)Basement area. Complete electrical to code. Install
I ' outlets, switches, and ceramic keyless light fixtures.
Include proper cover plates.

15)SW bedroom: Install a new ceiling light fixture and
connect to a new switch to replace the existing switch.
Locate the switch inside the bedroom.
PROJECT B (EXTERIOR DETERIORATION AND BLIGHTING)
0400 l)Install new footings and foundation to complete foundation
repairs on the west side of the house and to close off the
crawl space.
0600 l)Install new skirt board (freze board) around the perimeter
of the house to repair/replace deteriorated areas. Include
replacement of bottom row of shingle siding on the south
side of the house, and install flashing to 'eliminate
leaks/moisture problems behind T-l11 siding. Complete siding
on east end at the rear of the house. Install proper 1/4"
screening on foundation vents around the perimeter of the
house.

0700 l)Tearoff, resheath. and reroof the entire house with 25
year 3-tab composition seal down shingles. Include
installation of new metal gable and eave trim around
perimeter of house (Include the front entry overhang).

PROJECT C (OPTIONAL-COST EFFECTIVE ENERGY CONSERVATION)
0800 l)East bedroom entry. Install a new steel insulated pre-hung
door package with a deadbolt, lock, and peephole or window
in the upper half. Trim and finish the interior and
exterior. Stain and finish or paint the door and trim.
2)Front entry. Install a new steel insulated pre-hung door
package with a deadbolt. lock, and peephole. Trim and
finish the interior and exterior. Stain and finish or paint
the door and trim.
Note, Entry doors to be keyed alike.
3)Kitchen. free up the window on the east wall.
