Housing Rehabilitation Program. no later than Friday. November 8.
1996.
Include applicable tax and permit fees. Bid each project
separately.
PROJECT A (HEALTH AND SAFETY)
0600 1)Kitchen entry: Install new landing, railing and steps
with a concrete pad at the base. The landing will be
approximately 4' wide and extended to the corner of the
house. Include pressure treated framing and decking with
proper footings, support posts and fasteners. Install (1)
additional set of steps with a concrete pad, to be located
on the north side of the landing. Install hand railing at
the steps, to be attached to the house. Stain and finish or
paint the landing and steps.
0900 1)Bathroom and utility room: Install new underlayment and
sheet vinyl floor covering. Level the floor in the
utility/bath entryway.
1600 1)Install a new sodium vapor security light at the south
side of the house. Switch to be located inside the kitchen
entry.

2)Kitchen: Install (1) new GFCI protected outlet on the east
wall adjacent to the sink.
3)Kitchen: Insure that all existing outlets near the sink
have proper GFCI protection.
-4)Rear deck: Install a new sodium vapor security light with
a switch to be located inside the living room entry.
5)Install new hardwired/inter-tied smoke alarms with battery
back-up to code.
6)Safeup electrical throughout the house. Insure that
electric panel is properly wired and labeled. All 3-prong
outlets to be properly grounded and all other outlets to
have proper polarity. Insure that all accessible connections
and fixtures have proper junction boxes. All switches,
outlets, and open junction boxes to have cover plates.
7)Bedroom: Install (1) additional outlet. Homeowner to
designate location.
8)Bathroom: Insure that existing outlet near the toilet- has
proper GFCI protection.
9)Bathroom: Install a new wall mount light fixture and
switch near the sink.
10)Utility room: Install a new 2-foot 2-tube florescent
ceiling light fixture and switch.
11)Rear deck: Install a new GFCI protected outlet with a
weatherproof cover.
12)Workshop: Install new overhead service and 60 amp sub-
panel. Include installation of (4) new outlets and (2)
4-foot 2-tube florescent ceiling light fixtures and a single
switch near the doorway.
PROJECT B (COST EFFECTIVE ENERGY CONSERVATION)
0700 1)Complete installation of pressure treated framing and
skirting on the west side of the house. Include proper
venting. Homeowner to provide skirting materials (hardiboard
siding).

0800 l)Kitchen entry: Install a new steel insulated prehung door
package with a deadbolt, lock and window in the upper half.
Trim and finish the interior and exterior. Stain and finish
or paint the door and trim. Window to have low-e/argon

7)Bedroom: Modify the window opening and install a new vinyl
framed single hung window with insulating low-e/argon glass
on the east wall. Trim and finish the interior and exterior.
Stain and finish or paint the trim. Note: window must meet
egress requirements.
8)NE living room entry: Install a new steel insulated door
package with a deadbolt, lock and window in the upper half.
Trim and finish the interior and exterior. Stain and finish
or paint the door and trim. Window to have low-e/argonr.;

with insulating low-e/argon glass on the north wall. Trim
and finish the interior and exterior. Stain and finish or

PROJECT C (EXTERIOR DETERIORATION AND BLIGHTING)
0200/0600 *1)Complete all repairs outlined in the attached
Paratex pest report of October 15. 1996.
Note to contractor: Bid to include reinspection fee for
Paratex Certified, Inc. to provide consulting and
reinspection upon completion of the repairs outlined in
the original report of October 15, 1996.
PROJECT D (BUILDING CONSERVATION)
1100 I)Bathroom: Install a new ceiling exhaust fan and switch
properly vented to the exterior. Refer to contractor manual
for specification.
1500 I)Install new copper hot/cold water lines throughout the
house. Include replacement of all existing water lines from
the city meter to all fixture shut-off valves.
PROJECT E (MODERNIZATION/GENERAL REPAIRS)
0900 1)Kitchen. dining and living room areas: Remove the living
room carpet and install new underlayment and sheet vinyl
floor covering throughout these areas.

1) WX>D Rill WAS FOUND AT THE BASE OF 1 SUPPORT POST, ux:ATED ON THE N. W.
SIDE OF THE OOUSE. THIS POST SHOULD-BE REMJVED AND REPLACED.
2) WX>D Rill WAS FOUND IN THE HOUSE SIDING, ux:ATED ON THE N.W. mRNER OF THE
HOUSE. ALL OF THE DAMAGED MATERIALS FOUND IN THIS AREA SHOULD BE REMJVED AND
REPLACED .
3) EARTH-WX>D mNTACI'.AND GAPS WERE FOUND AT THE BASE OF THE HOUSE SKIRTING.
THE BASE OF THE SKIRTING SHOULD BE REMJVED AND REPLACED, USING MATERIALS THAT
WILL RESIST FUTURE Rill OR INSECI' DAMAGE. THE NEW BASE SOOULD BE DUG INID THE
GROUND AND BACK FILLED, '10 SEAL- ANY OF THE GAPS AT THE BASE. NEW SKIRTING SHOULD BE
INSTALLED AIDNG THE WEST SIDE OF THE OOUSE. ALL OF THE OTHER GAPS IN THE EXISTING
SKIRTING SHOULD ALSO. BE SEALED.
4) SURFACE Rill wAs FOUND ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE..WEST SIDE SUPPORT BEAM.
THIS Rill HAS NCIl' CAUSED ANY STRUcruRAL DAMAGE SQ THERE IS 00 POINT IN REPLACEMENT
AT THIS TIME.
5) EARTH-WX>D mNTACI' WAS FOUND ON THE SUPPORTS AND STEPS OF THE WEST SIDE
ENTRY PORCH. THIS PORCH SHOULD BEREMJVED AND REPLACED, AND SHOULD BE SET ON
mNCRETE FOOTINGS.
6) I FOUND EVIDENCE OF PAST POWDER POST BEETLE INFESTATION, LOCATED IN AREAS
OF THE CRAWL SPACE AREA~ I FOUND ONLY A SMALL AREA OF CURRENT ACI'IVITY,
LOCATED IN THE SKIRTING BRACES, AIDNG THE OORTH SIDE OF THE HOUSE. THESE BRACES
. SHOULD BE REIDVED AND REPLACED.. ONCE THEY ARE REMJVED, 00 TREATMENTS WILL BE
REJ:)UIRED.
7) A PLUMBING LEAK WAS FOUND IN A WATER VALVE, ux:ATED UNDER THE BATHROOM.
THIS LEAK SHOULD BE REPAIRED, 'IQ HELP PREVENT FUTURE M)ISTURE PROBLEMS.
8) WX>D Rill WAS FOUND AT THE BASE OF THE HOUSE SIDING, ux:ATED AROUND THE
N.E. mRNER ENTRY -DECK. ALL OF THE DAMAGED WX>D FOUND IN THIS AREA SHOUID BE
REMJVED AND REPLACED.
9) THE EXISTING VAPOR BARRIER SHOULD BE REPAIRED, SO THAT ALL OF THE EXPOSED
SOIL IS mVERED.
THE SUB-FLCOR OF THE. STRUCTIJRE \VAS INACCESSIBLE DUE 'IQ THE. EXISTING INSUlATION
