RE: Race Street driveway 835 East 2nd Street
This letter is in regards to the abandoned driveway located on your Race Street frontage. As
a condition ofthe re-zone application, along with the building and parking lot permit
approvals for the above address, the Public Works Department noted that the existing
anveway approach onto Race Street was to be closed,
As part of the permit approvals, ingress / egress to the parking lot was to be off the alley, and
the existing driveway approach on Race Street removed and restored with standard curb,
gutter and sidewalk per city standards, (See attached P AMC 11,08,150). The pier blocks
presently used to close the existing driveway present a safety hazard and are to be remove
immediately,. Restoration of the curb, gutter and sidewalk will require a right of way permit,
issued at the building permit counter, The fee is $45.00. Upon receipt of this notification,
the restoration ofthe curb, gutter and sidewalk should be completed within the next 30 days.

11.08.110 Permittee - Liability Insurance Required,
A. Any permittee receiving a permit under the terms of this Chapter, the fair market .
value of which is thirty-five hundred dollars or less, shall provide to the City satisfactory proof of
the existence of a comprehensive liability insurance policy, in an amount and form determined by
the City Engineer or City Attorney, but in no event providing coverage of less than fifty thousand
dollars for personal injury to anyone person, one hundred thousand dollars for injury to more than
one person arising out of the same incident, and twenty thousand dollars for property damage,
against claims arising pursuant to pennits issued pursuant to this Chapter. The City shall further be
provided with an endorsement to such policy, naming the City as an additional insured.

11.08.120 Work - Applicable Standards - Generally, Except as otherwise provided in this
Chapter, all work performed pursuant to a permit issued pursuant to this Chapter shall be done.in
accordance with the Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction issued
by the Washington State Chapter of the American Public Works Association and Department of
Transportation, current edition, (Ord, 2745 S3, 1/29/93; Ord. 2166 S 12,9/1/81)
11.08.130 Additional Specifications - Sidewalks, Where there is an existing cement .
concrete curb, any sidewalk installed or repaired in that location shall be constructed only with
cement concrete or any equally satisfactory material approved by the City Engineer. (Ord, 2166 S 13,
9/1/81)
11.08.140 Additional Specifications - Driveways. Driveways shall be constructed in
accordance with the following specifications:
A. The maximum single driveway width for lot frontage of seventy-five feet or less shall
not exceed twenty-five feet at the curb, excluding transitions.
B. The maximum single driveway width for lot frontage exceeding seventy-five feet
shall not exceed thirty feet at the curb, excluding transitions.
C. The minimum single driveway width shall be twelve feet at the curb, excluding
transitions.
D. Where two or more adjoining driveways are provided for the same property, a full
curb height safety island of not less than fifteen feet, at the curb, must be provided.
E. No driveway apron shall extend into the street further than the face of the curb.
F. No driveway shall be located within twenty-five feet, including transitions, of a
regular crosswalk area at an intersection or any other designated crosswalk area.
G. No driveway shall be located within ten feet, including transitions, of a side lot line,
H. No driveway may be located so as to conflict with power poles, street lights, fire
hydrants, or other above-ground public facilities, (Ord. 2886 SI, 9/15/95; Ord. 2166 S14, 9/1/81)
11.08.150 Additional Specifications - Driveways - Restoration. Whenever an existing
driveway is abandoned, relocated or ceases to be used as a driveway, the curb opening provided shall
be restored to normal curb height in a manner satisfactory to the City Engineer, within thirty days
after notification by the City Engineer that restoration shall occur. Such restoration shall be the
responsibility of the property owner of record, and shall be performed pursuant to a permit issued
under the terms ofthis Chapter. (Ord. 2166 S 15, 9/1/81)
