Our community has communicated to us that this issue is in need of strong support from our delegation of federal legislators. Recently, many members of our community gathered to speak to City Council during our most recent public meeting, expressing deep concem over the action taken by ICE and CBP during the Bear Gulch fire. While our community has been watching this happen across our nation, these members of the public stood up to do what they could to share their opposition of these actions taken in a neighboring community. We understand that ICE staff do not have offices here in the City of Port Angeles, however, their staff have been in our community and amongst our neighbors, families, and friends. Doing what we could in our capacity, during our meeting on September 2,2025, City Council voted in support of the following motion: Direct the Mayor and City Manager to write and send a letter to our Federel delegation and Governor's Office regarding the actions of the Port Angeles ICE and CBP and ask to be informed about the outcomes of any investigations that occur at the Federal or State level, We know how important this issue is to you and we are asking that you keep us apprised of Homeland Security matters as they relate to the City of Port Angeles. Please let us know if you become aware of any documentation, reports, or updates that would be of interest to the City of Port Angeles.
