RE: Letter of Support for Reflections Counseling Services Group Overdose Response Program
To whom it may concern,
On behalf of the City of Port Angeles, I am writing in strong support of Reflections Counseling
Services Group (Reflections) for the proposed overdose response program. This program will
strengthen coordination between first responders and behavioral health outreach following overdose
events by providing timely follow-up, connecting individuals to treatment and recovery supports, and
reducing repeated overdose-related calls and preventable overdose deaths in the Port Angeles area
and throughout Clallam County.
The City of Port Angeles’ Fire Department program, Operation Shielding Hope, is a team of
personnel that specializes in dealing with substance use disorders, overdoses and behavioral health
crises. Reflections Counseling Services Group is one of the co-response partnerships that are key to
recovery success through this program.
The Reflections overdose response program will benefit the City of Port Angeles and other local
jurisdictions by improving public safety response outcomes, reducing strain on emergency systems,
and supporting community stability through faster connections to care.
With the support from this grant, Reflections can support faster follow-up after overdose events, help
reduce repeat overdose calls and emergency response demands, improve coordination between
outreach services and first responders and strengthen the overall community health and safety
outcomes within Port Angeles.
