Mr, 01De!1 is O\....ner of the former Lincoln Welding building at the corner
of Raii~oad and Lincoln Street and has requested to join the Downtown
Parking Association'..

I quoted him $500 Jor th~t portion of the bu.ilding occupied by the North-
west Gallery.plus the regular $5,00 monthly charge, He is also renting
an additional small J:lortion of thebuildirig on a temporary basis and we
agreed on a fee of $50 plus the $S.OOmonthly fee until November' I, at
which time the fee for that tenant will be adjusted if it becomes per-
manent.
Mr, OIDe!1 has paid the $550 initial fee as indicated above and we have
further agreed that any additional tenants in that building will require
an additional fee for membership in the Downto\....n Parking Association.

As you are probably aware, the Port Angeles Planning Commission 9-nd the Downtown
Business Association have been w'o~king on a sign ordinance for the Central Business
District over the past several years.
After the original draft of this ordinance was approved, a photographic field inven-
tory was made and evaluated. This led to revisions in the original ordinance and a
re-evaluation of the original inventory.
Now, as a result of this re-evaluation, letters are being mailed to businesses in ~
the Central Business District to inform them of the status of their signs.

Should you have any questions in relation to your particular evaluation, we would
be pleased to discuss it with you. r would recommend you come to the office rather
than telephone, since most of the questions, r anticipate, would require examination
of the photographs, evaluation she0ts and ordinance.
According to S.::ction 9 of the Qrdinance, those signs classified as "non-conforming"
mus t be brought into compliance or removed by January 1, 1987. Those signs in the
"prohibited" category must be removedwithin;30 days of receipt of this'notice.
rnen\ are possible e;><.ceptions to the above, und~T certain ci.rcumstances, but these
would have to be determinec on a case-by-case basis.

As new CiWnet's of the Lincoln Welding building at 214 N. Lincoln,
we w.i.sh to offir:ially not Hy you in writing a 1:. a follow-up
of a previous phone call that:. the painted si(.in on the west
wall of the structure is in violation of the Downtown Sign
Ordinance No. 2182.
The sign in violation is the sign stClting "r'lotor Cc:.'ach Terminal f
Cafe & Lunch, etc. " at the nort.h end of the west wall.
This sign is prohibited Ilnder Section 8 (9) of the ordinance
since it no longer serves a,n onqoing business. Under Section
9 (3) , t.h('! sign must be Lerno"ed (or in your case, painted over)
with thirty (30 ) days notice from the Building Insp(~ctor (from
the date of t h.i s let ter) .
