PLAN CHECK FEE: IF a plan check fee is due It must be submItted at the time the buildmg permit application and construction plans are
submitted. All other permit fees are due at the time of permIt issuance.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW: If no permIt is issued W1thm 180 days of the date of application, the application will expire. The
Building OffiCIal can extend the time for action by the apphcant up to 180 days upon written request by the applicant (see Section
R105.3.2 of the International BuildmglResldential Code, 2003). No applicatIOn can be extended more than once.

We have checked this plan and find that it conforms to the requirements of our ordinance.
The following items must be noted:
1) The exact location of the manual pull station for the system is not shown. The pull
station must be in the path of exit travel and easily accessible.
2) A "K" class fire extinguisher must be provided along with the system. The extinguisher
must be located in an easily accessible location, with the top no more than 5' off the
floor.
3) The hood and duct fire extinguishing system must be connected to the fire alarm system.
Activation of the suppression system must initiate a fire alarm at the F ACP.
4) A full witnessed acceptance test of the system will be required. This test will include
a balloon test, as well as tests of the fuel/electrical shut-offs, the pull station and the
fusible links.

2. The actuation gas line piping Is Installed from the regulated
release mechanism to each regulated actuator oonnected
within the system. The total length of the actuation gas line
from the regulated release assembly to the regulated I1ctuator
assembly(les) must not exceed 20 ft. (6 m) when using an
LT-20-R (Part No. 7032), an LT-30-A nitrogen cartridge (patt
No. 5373), or a 101-10 (Part No. 15850) or a 101-20 (Part No.

We have checked this plan and find that it conforms to the requirements of our codes and
ordinances, with the following comments:
1) Annual testing and maintenance of the fire alarm system is the responsibility of the owner.
2) Okay to use "strobe only" notification devices in the restrooms.
3) Activation of apartment smoke detector should not activate all notification devices throughout
the building. Activation of sprinkler system shall activate all notification devices, including
apartment.
The following comments apply to all systems:
1. All systems shall be installed per NFP A 72.
2. A final field acceptance test will be conducted before final approval. The field
acceptance test will be a test of ALL system components.
NOTE: Prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, compliance with the above
conditions must be met.

Dear Jim,
This letter is in response to your request for clarification of the 2-Hour fire separation
requireffil~nts at lhe above mentioned project. Since the mc allows a reduction to I-Hour
separatio'n when fully sprinkled (which we are), the only areas of concern for separation
are at .he ~ommon wall between the stairs and mechanical room and areas where the
f1~)or/ceiling assembly does nol provide a continuous separation.
In discussing this with the contractor, he is providing a 2-Hour wall assembly at the stair
wall and at the south wall of the upper level. This will provide a complete envelope of
fire separatio{l between the upper level occupancy and the lower level. We feel this will
meet the iment of separation required in the me.

We have checked this plan and find that it conforms to the requirements of the code.
Add a sprinkler head in the skylights as per the Building Inspector.
Additional Comments:
All systems, including underground mains, shall be installed by a state licensed and certified
company. Systems shall be installed per the applicable NFP A Standard.
All electrical components shall be compatible with the fire alarm system.
All underground piping must be inspected and hydrostatically tested by the Port Angeles Fire
Department PRIOR to being covered. A witnessed flush of the underground piping is required.
A design sprinkler flow test and alarm test are required for all13R systems.
Before final acceptance of the system, an inspection will be conducted to ensure that the
installation complies with the applicable NFP A Standard. This 13R system will require a
measured flow test.

We have checked this plan and find that it conforms to the requirements of our codes and
ordinances, with the following comments:
1) The exit door at the end of Hall 111 must swing out - in the direction of exit travel.
2) The following exit doors must be equipped with panic hardware:
The exit at the end of Hall 111
The exit at Entry 101
The exterior exit from Multi-Purpose 114
3) The fire extinguisher across from Storage 107 (in the Multi-Purpose room) should
be re-Iocated to a position adjacent to the north exterior exit from the Multi-
Purpose room. Also, it is OK to omit the fire extinguisher in Office/Rec Room 110.
Provide a fire extinguisher for the second floor apartment.
4) If commercial cooking equipment is to be placed in the kitchen, a hood and duct fire
extinguishing system will be required.
5) A fire alarm system will be required for the building. Separate fire alarm plans will
be required for review.
6) Separate fire sprinkler plans will be required for review.
7) Provide signage for the exterior door to Mechanical 109 that states "Sprinkler
Riser." If the fire alarm control panel is located in this room, provide signage that
reads, "FACP."
NOTE: Prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, compliance with the above
conditions must be met.
