SUBJECT Single Family Residence Foundation Repair at 935 East 8 Street, Port
Angeles, Washington
Dear Mr Lierly
This office has performed multiple site inspections at the residence noted above The
native soil under the foundation was excavated down to bearing soil at an approximate
depth of 6' below existing grade and was approved by this office. The excavation was
then backfilled with controlled density fill conforming to the requirements of the approved
plan up to within approximately 12' of the bottom of the existing footing This office then
inspected the reinforcing steel for the proposed footing to be placed under the existing
footing and found it to be in conformance with the requirements of the plans.

SOIL NOTES

2. All footings except where noted otherwise on plans shall be set of least 12" into undisturbed
earth or certified compacted fill.
3. Any unusuol soil conditions such as organic soils, cloy pockets or uncertified fills sholl be brought
to the attention of the engineer prior to construction.
CONCRETE NOTES
1 Concrete shall be a commercially available transit -mix properly proportioned and delivered to the
site in reody -mix trucks. Aggregate size sholl be o maximum of 1)¢" in foundations and 34" of all
other locations. Slump should not exceed 4 Curing compound shell be sprayed on all exposed
surfoces immediately after final trowelling.
2. All cement shall conform to the ASTM Standard C -150. All aggregote sholl conform to ASTM
Standard C -33. All reinforcing bars shall conform to ASTM Standard A -615 as follows:
#3 #5 Bars and WWM -Grode 40
#6 Bars and larger -Grade 60
All rebor to be welded shall be ASTM A706 steel. Preheat all burs #7 and larger per AWS D14 -92.
Preheat not required for bar sizes #6 and smaller
3. Concrete used for foundotions and slabs on grade shall hove o minimum 28 -day compressive
strength of 2500 psi and shall not contoin Tess than 5 socks of cement per cubic yard.
4 Splices in continuous reinforcement shall lop os noted on the plans as follows:
Grade 40 reinforcing bars: Minimum of 32 bar diameters
Grade 60 reinforcing bors: Minimum of 48 bar diameters
5. Unless shown otherwise, the minimum concrete cover for reinforcing shall be 3" when placed
directly against earth and 2" for all other locations unless specified on the plans.
