observed on October 27.

ADDENDUM 1- COLUMN AND FOOTING ADDITION FOR THE CLALLAM
COUNTY COURTHOUSE, AUGUST 4, 2011
1. The bid opening is changed to August 16, 2011 at 10:00 am.
2. The start of construction is changed to August 26, 2011. The completion of
construction remains at October 21, 2011.
3. A second addendum will be issued August 8, 2011.
4. A second voluntary on -site walk- through will occur on Wednesday, August
10, at 2 pm. All bidders having attended the mandatory August 1 walk
through and their delegated subcontractors may meet in the Parks, Fair
Facilities office in Room 180 of the Historic Courthouse.
5. On category 2, Procedure, of the General Notes on sheet 1, re- designate the
second items L and M to L' and M'.
6. On category 2, Procedure, of the General Notes on sheet 1, on the second
and third lines of item G, replace "core drill" with "Rotohammer a 3/n hole
This would include a second hole as described in item F for the sump pump.
7. The angle of the angles in Detail 2/2 and 1/4 should be 1 min -to1 or at a
flatter angle more parallel to the trusses than 1 -to -1 in plan view. These
angles shall connect to the trusses at a top chord panel point (where the
truss webs intersect the top chord) as shown in Detail 2/4. Other potential
modifications to this angle bracing will be covered in Addendum 2.
8. Contrary to a comment during the pre -bid walk- through, 4 calibrated jacks
are needed as the lower level jacks should remain in place while using the
upper level jacks considering items M, L', 0, P and Q on category 2,
Procedure, of the General Notes on sheet 1.
9. Contractor shall provide level measurements to monitor the potential
foundation settlement under Toad referred to in items E and O.
10. The location of the new steel column shall remain as indicated on the plans.
To provide sufficient clearance to the existing PVC electrical conduit, the
column cap plate of contractor's option to the lower level W8 x 48 column
shall be revised to Detail 1/A, enclosed. Both the top and bottom plates of
the upper level W8 x 31 column may be modified to Detail 1/A for clearance if
required.
11. The double electrical junction box attached to the wall above the lower level
ceiling tile shall be moved to either side of the new W8 x 48 column with all
connecting flexible and rigid electrical conduits and wiring inside modified as
required for moving.
12 The rigid conduit on the lower floor ceiling (and other similar interferences on
either floor) shall be moved to clear the new column (and column flange
bracing).

13. The double doors above the footing and all related hardware shall remain the
property of the county and the contractor shall remove them without damage
and deliver them to the county maintenance department down the hallway.
The door frames shall become the property of the contractor after removal.
14. Previous tests sanctioned by the county have confirmed that there is no
asbestos in the existing fire proofing.
15. Contractors are encouraged to perform work after hours as well as other
work specified for weekends in category 2, Procedure, of the General Notes
on sheet 1, item B. Some of the specified weekend -only work may be
performed after hours. In all situations, the after -hours work schedule shall
be coordinated with the county maintenance department, potentially limiting
some times for work without other restrictions.
16. The ground water concern expressed in category 2, Procedure, of the
General Notes on sheet 1, items F, G, and H is important and even if the
contractor does not initially find the more severe description of water
intrusion, there will be no alternate subtractive charge for the lack of water to
contend with as the diligence and preparation for protection against water
intrusion is expected throughout the concrete work at the lower level.
17. The replacement of carpet is not required in the lower level office over the
north half of the footing as indicated in category 2, Procedure, of the General
Notes on sheet 1, item D, but the floor and remaining carpet in this office
must be left clean. Future overall carpet replacement in this office by the
county is intended.
18. The sealed areas need only to include the existing hallway ceiling above this
corridor except where it may need to extend above the double sheetrock
ceiling for installation of the stiffener plates. A corridor to the north lower
level exit door shall be provided similar to that described in category 2,
Procedure, of the General Notes on sheet 1, item E. The south door shall be
used as the lower level exit door for the courthouse described in item B.
Detail 2/A will show a drawing of this and will be submitted in Addendum 2.
19. Submit the concrete mix design to meet Category 4, Reinforced Concrete, of
the General Notes on sheet 1, Item A with a maximum water cement ratio of
0.4 for approval prior to placement.
20. The general contractor shall provide continuous on -site direct supervision of
the job including during subcontractors' work.
