An ordinance approving and confirming the assessments and
assessment roll in and for Local Improvement District No. 88, under
Ordinance No. 699, for the improvement of Laurel Street, from the
North Margin of Front Street to a point 12.feet North of the South
Margin of railroad Avenue, by removing old plank, removing all lum-
ber of any description from either embankment or excavation, bring-
ing subgrade of roadway to the proper grade line, excavating, em-

bankment, construction of roadway by placing concrete slab one course
pavement with integral curb 21 feet each side of center line; a water
settled sand fill; concrete retaining wall extending 100 feet north
from the North Margin of Front Street, together with a cross concrete
retaining wall 42 feet long; from this point North by the construction
of a-plank roadway resting on creosote piles, with all necessary caps
and stringers; the top of dock to be finished with a 2 inch sheet
asphalt weariiig surface and-6-X-10 wooden curb:—Sidewalks to _die
constructed of 2,x 8 plank with all necessary stringers and caps full
length on both sides of street, and such other work as may be necessary
in connection therewith to carry out the construction of the contem-

plated improvement, all in accordance with plans and specifications
prepared by the City Engineer filed with the City Clerk, and which
have heretofore been approved and adopted by the City Commission;
ordering the levy and collection of such assessments; creating and
establishing a- special fund for said district; and ordering that said
assessments be paid into said special. fund.
THE CITY COMMISSION of the City of Port Angeles do ordain as
follows:
Section 1. That the assessments and assessment roll for Local
Improvement District No. 88 created by Ordinance No. 699, approved
July 20, 1921, which said ordinance, ordered and provided for the

improvement of Laurel Street, from the North Margin of Front Street
to a point 12 feet North of the South Margin of itailroad Avenue, by
removing old plank, removing all lumber of any description from either
embankment or, excavation, bringing subgrade of roadway to the proper
grade line, excavating, embankment, constructionrof roadway by placing
concrete slab one course pavement with integral curb 21 feet each
side of center line; a water settled sand fill; concrete retaining
wall extending 100 feet north from the North Margin of Front Street,
together with a c -oss concrete retaining wall 42 feet long; from
this point North by the construction of a. plank roadway resting on
creosote piles, with all necessary caps and stringers; the top of dock
to be finished with a 2 inch sheet asphalt wearing surface and 6 x 10
wooden curb. Sidewalks to be constructed of 2 x 8 plank with all
necessary stringers and caps full length on both sides of street, and
such other work as may be necessary in connection therewith to carry
out the construction of the contemplated improvement, all in accordance
with plans and specifications prepared by the City Engineer filed with
the_City Clerk, and which have heretofore been approved and adopted
by the City Commission; created a Local Improvement District therefor
provided for the payment of said improvement by special assessment
upon the property iii said district, payable by mode of °payment by
bonds°, as said assessment roll now stands, as revised, raised,
lowered, changed and modified by the City Commission, sitting as a
• board of equalization thereon on the 21st day of December, 1921,
according to regualr notice thereof and the ordinances of the said
City and in accordance with the findings and / ate of'said board
of equalization in said meeting, be and the same are hereby in all
respects approved and confirmed in all things.
Section 2. That each lot, tract and parcel of land shown upon
said assessment roll is hereby de:c'lared ,specially benefitted by said

:improvement in at least the amount charged against the same, and that
the assessment appearing against the same is in proportion to the sev-
eral assessments appearing on said roll, and there is hereby levied
and assessed againstAO- each said lot, tract or parcel of land ap-
pearing on -said roll, the amount actually charged and assessed against
the same.
Section 3. That there is hereby created and established for said

Local - Improvement District No. 88 a special fund to be known and de-
signated as Local Improvement District No. 88 for the uses and purposes
provided by law and the ordinances of the city, and into which special
fund all such assessments shall be paid when collected.
Section' 4. Said assessments or any of them may be paid without
interest at any time within thirty days from the date of first publi-
cation of the City Treasurer's notice to pay the same as required by
law to be given, but unless payment be made within such time -said
assessments orany`;portion- thereof not -so paid--will- -become - delinquent;
such delinquent assessments with interest and penalty will be enforced
and collected in the manner provided by law and the ordinances of the
City of Port Angeles.
Section 5. That immediately upon the taking effect of this or-
dinance said assessment roll shall be turned over to the City Treasurer
for the collection thereof, who will thereupon proceed to collect the
same according to law.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
after its passage and approval and from and after five (5) days after
its lawful ,publication. _y
