AN ORDINANCE declaring the existence of an emergency by reason of the dangerous condition of the bridges over Valley and Tumwater Gul- ches at Eighth Street in the City of Port Angeles; stating the estimated amount of money necessary to meet such an emergency; authorizing the is- suance of emergency warrants against the current expense fund of the City of Port Angeles and declaring. an emergency. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section I. That it recently became known by reason of inves- tigations carried on by the State highway Department and the office of the City Engineer of Port Angeles that bridges over Tumwater and Valley Gulches at Eighth Street in the City of Port Angeles had become unsound and unfit and dangerous for traffic by reason of the decay of the mater- ial constituting the said bridges; that the said bridges constitute a part of one of the .main arterial ;highways in the City of Port Angeles and part of the highway system and the principal means of ingress and egress to and from the City of Port Angeles and that part of Clallam County lying westerly therefrom; that no provision was made in the cur- rent budget for the repair and reconstruction of the said bridges owing to the fact that their dangerous condition was not determined at the time of making the said budget and the same was not foreseen. Section II. That the estimated amount of money necessary to meet such emergency and to effect temporary repairs which will place the said bridges in a safe and suitable condition for limited traffic is the sum of $ ,IV/ vePe"e/i° Section III. That by reason of the fact above set forth in Section I hereof, a public emergency exists which could not have rea- sonably been foreseen at the time of making the current budget, which public emergency is now declared to exist. Section IV. That the Mayor and Ci' Clerk of the City of Port Angeles be and they are hereby authoriz to sign, execute and H' � issue emergency warrants on the current expense fund of the City of Port • Angeles in an amount not exceeding'00/44249'°O, being the amount wbi.ch it will be necessary to draw upon the said fund for the purpose of making payment for the cost of repairs and rehabilitation which have been and will have to be made in order to render the said bridges suitable for limited traffic. .4 'Section V.
