HomeMy WebLinkAbout0984• ORDINANCE N0._ AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 1 of Ordinance 981 entitled An Ordinance Prohibiting the sale or gift of liquor in public places; prohibiting the sale or gift of liquor to minors; prohibiting the drinking of liquor in public places; defining as a nuisance certain places operating in violation of the law and city ordinances and providing for the closing and abatement thereof'; and declaring an emergency. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance 981 be and the said section is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1. The phrase "intoxicating liquor ", whenever used in this act, shall be held and construed to include whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, wine, ale, beer and any spiritous, vinous, fermented or = makt= liquor,. and every other liquor or liquid containing intoxicating properties which is capable of being used as` a,-beverage, save and except beer ancf wine containing not "to exceed 3.2 per cent alcohol by weight, as defined and limited, by the acts of Congress of the United 44 States permitting the.transportation andcsale of such beverages." Section 2. WHEREAS, by_Aot•of Congress of the. United States, the sale of beer and wine, as is defined therein, has been made legal in the State of,,Washington to become effective on April 7, 1933; Therefore this ordinance is.declared to be urgent and neces- lac M sary Tor'the immedid"te preservation of the public peace, health and eafety —of the - people •o£ the-City of Port--.Angeles and Aahali take ef- fect and be in force immediately from and after its passage, ap- proval and lawful publication.
