HomeMy WebLinkAbout1007• ORDINANCE NO.1007 AN ORDINANCE Amending Sections 3 and 6 of Ordinance No. 930, being an ordinance regulat.ng the installation of plumbing, steam- fitting and gasfitting, and adding a section to said Ordinance. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 930 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 3. License to engage in the business of plumbing either as a journeyman or the business of gasfitting, may be secured by application to the City Clerk and complying with the provisions as to payment of license fee, examination as to com- petency and filing of a bond as such requirements are set forth in Ordinance No. 1006 of the City of Port Angeles relating to the license of master and journeyman plumbers." Section 2. That Section 6 of Ordinance No. 930 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 6. Except for gasfitting, an applicant doing his own work on premises owned by him and occupied or to be occupied by him as a residence is not required to file a bond or have a license, but such applicant must pay the fee and secure a permit from the plumbing inspectorls office and all such work must be inspected and approved. Such applicant shall be subject to the same requirements of satisfactory work and the removal of de- fect ive,. wor:k_as, any . other. person_., v Any such applicant intending to do his own work shall so state and the inspector shall require him to make a suitable sketch of the work intended and to satisfy the inspector that he has suffi- cient knowledge of this class of work to make the same safe and sanitary and in conformity with the requirements of this ordinance. The inspector shall have the right to refuse a permit to a person unoualified to do the work. Nothing in this section shall apply to contractors or firms or persons building houses for sale, or to the work of gasfitting." Section a. That there shall be a new section inserted and made a part of said ordinance No. 930 to be entitled and numbered Sec- --,. tion 25i, which section shall read as follows : f "Section 25 1'i,Joints in cast' iron pipe shall be -made with i 4 - A 4 an oakum gasket and pure molt4n leadTwell`.caulked,and no paint, varnish, or. putty will be allowed until1the� joint has been tested; toints in wrought iron_.pipes shall be screw joints; joints in lead pipes shall be'in all cases wiped; joints between lead and iron pipe shall be made of cast or drawn braes scree nipples, or with brass caulking ferrules ''of the full *size of the ironipe. No.,solder union will be allowed in connection of waste or vent pipes that are to be concealed, and slip joints will be allowed only in unconcealed work." Section 4. This ordinance shall. take effect and be in force thirty days from and after its passage and approval and lawful publication. Passed first reading by the City Commission July -3, 1934.
