HomeMy WebLinkAbout1057• ORDINANCE NO. 1057 1 An ordinance relating to rates and service charges for the use of water sup - 2 f plied by the City; repealing Ordinances No. 867, No. 976 and No. 983; amending 3 Section 14, 39 and 40 of Ordinance No. 778; and providing for and declaring an 4 emergency. 5 THE CITY COEIISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 Section 1. That ordinance No. 867, No. 976 and No. 983 of the City of Fort Angeles 7 be and the same are hereby repealed. 8 i Section 2. That Section 14 of Ordinance No) 778 of the City of Port Angeles be 9 , and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 10 "Section 14. Should it be desired to discontinue the use of water supplied 11 to any premises, written notice must be filed with the ' uperintendent on or before 12 the 5th of the month, which notice shall be on the printed forms provided by the 13 Superintendent for that purpose, and payment in full for all arrears must first 14 he made. The water will then be turned off and turned on again on application 15 without charge; provided, however, no remission in rates shall be made for a 16 period of less than two weeks not without the notice prescribed in this section." 17 Section 3. That Section 39 of Ordinance No. 778 of the pity of Port Angeles be 18 and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 19 "Section 39. The monthly rates for use of water other than measured by • 20 meter shall be known as "Fixed Rates," and shall be as follows: 21 Base rate $1.75 22 a For this Vase Bate customer shall be entitled to yard faucets and to one cold 23 and one got water tap, in connection with one sink and one lavatory. All fixed rates shall be paid in advance and shall be due and 4 ,' payable at the office of the City Treasurer, without notice to the ennsumer, on 5 the first day of each month for the current month. All charges for metered 6 service shall be due and payable at the office of the City Treasurer, without II 7 notice to the consumer, on the first day of the month for the month preceding. 8 ; A discount of two per cent (2 %) shall be a]lowed on all accounts and charges • 9 paid on or before the 15th day of the month due. Should an account not be paid 10 before the 21st day of the month in which it becomes due, the City Treasurer shall, 11 notify the Superintendent who shall immediately shut off water from the premises 12 and it shall not again be turned on until all arrears are paid, together with a 13 fee of $1.00 for the turning on of the water. 14 "When the bills for metered service are rendered to consumers other than th e; 15 owner of the property, the consumer shall make a cash deposit with the City Treas 16 i surer equal to approximately two months charges based upon the estimate for the 17 monthly consumption through said meter, but in no case shall said deposit be less 18 than x,5.00, which deposit shall be held by the City Treasurer until the severance { 19 ; of the contract, and shall be repaid to the consumer after all claims against the • 20 premises shall have been fully paid. 21 • "Where premises are vacant and no water is used through a meter in any month,;' 22 } a charge of fifty cents (C .50) per month shall be made. 23 "Where meters are installed for a temporary supply only, a minimum of Two 24 1)ollars ($2.00) shall be charged. 25 ' "All metered bills are figured to the nearest even 100 cubic feet, except �/ M where the rate is Twenty Cents .20 r 100 cubic feet, or more when the rates 26 Y ( $ ) � s a 27 will be figured to the nearest even 50 cubic feet." 28 Section 5.
