HomeMy WebLinkAbout1102ORDINANCE ND. 1102 1 AN ORDINANCE setting forth an emergency affecting the public health and safety; 2 requiring expenditures unforeseen; providing for the issuance of emergency 3 warrants; and declaring an emergency making the ordinance immediately effective. 4 THE CITY COI:NISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 Section 1. That because of unforeseen and unexpected demands of the Federal Government that certain additional equipment be installed in the Fire Department to meet the requirements of the Federal Defense Program which were not and could not have been anticipated at the time of preparing the budget for the Fire Department in the Current Expense Fund, the amount provided is not sufficient and the amount required in excess of the funds available is as follows: Current Expense Fund $2,900.00 Section 2. That the expenditures made in excess of the amount of the 14 budgets were for the g protection and safety of the inhabitants of the City; Section 3. That by reason of the facts stated, an emergency is hereby declared to exist which will require the issuance of emergency warrants to provider for the said expenditures in amount required, the payment of such warrants to be considered in the preparation and adoption of budgets for the respective departments; Section 4. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, and deliver emergency warranb. upon the Current Expense Fund for the required expenditures not to exceed the sums mentioned in Section 1 hereof; Section 5. That because of the facts, the adoption of this ordinance is urgent and necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of the City, which emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and lawful publication. Passed first reading by the City Commission Nhy 20, 1942. Passed second reading by the City Commission May 20, 1942.
