HomeMy WebLinkAbout1165ORDINANCE NO. //6 S AN ORDINANCE, setting forth an emergency affecting the PORT ANGELES PUBLIC LIBRARY, requiring expenditures unforeseen, pro- viding for the issuance of emergency warrants, declaring an emer- gency making this Ordinance effective immediately. THE CITY COMMISSION OF TEE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That on account of the increased volume of business at the Public Library, and the necessity of employing additional help, providing additional equipment, and other expenditures un- foreseen at the time of the preparation of the budget for the year of 1946, and which could not have been anticipated at the time of preparing said budget, the amounts provided in said budget are not sufficient and the amount required in excess of the funds avail- able in the Library Fund is as follows: Salaries and Wages r4O0.00 Maintenance and Operation 1095.00 Capital Outlay 500400 Section 2. That the expenditures made in excess of the amount of the budget herein provided for, is for the protection and safety of the inhabitants of the City. Section 3. That by reason of the facts stated, an emergency is declared to exist which will require the issuance of emergency warrants to provide for the said expenditures in the amounts re- quired. The said emergency warrants may be paid by the City Treasurer out of any money on hand, and said warrants shall be considered in the preparation and adoption of a budget for said de- partment. Section 4. That the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, sign and deliver emergency warrants upon the Library Fund for the required expenditures, not to exceed the sum mentioned in Section 1 hereof. Section 5. That because of the facts, the adoption of this Ordinance is urgent and necessary for the proper peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of the City, which emergency is declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and lawful publication. Said Ordinance shall not be voted on until one week after its introduc- tion. Ordinance introduced this 5th day of June, 1946.
