HomeMy WebLinkAbout1175• ORDINANCE NO. /174- AN ORDINANCE setting forth an emergency affecting the pub- lic health and safety; requiring expenditures unforeseen; pro- viding for the issuance of emergency warrants; and declaring an emergency making the ordinance immediately effective. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES OR- DAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That because of unforseen and unexpected ad- ditional cost for wages and material, the unusual and unexpected increase in volume of electrical energy necessarily purchased by the City, and other increases in expense which were not and could not have been anticipated at the time of preparing the budget for the following enumerated funds, the amounts provided in said funds were not sufficient, and the amounts required in excess of the funds available to cover expenditures of 1946 are as follows: Current Expense Fund: Street Department ft100.00 Light Fund: 40,$60.00 Sanitation Fund: 905.00 War Liquor Tax Fund: Fire Department 1,200.00 Police Department 1,950.00 Section 2. That the expenditures made in excess of the amount of the budget were for the protection and safety of the inhabitants of the City. Section 3. That by reason of the facts stated, an emergency is hereby declared to exist which will require the issuance of emergency warrants to provide for said expenditures in amounts ' required, the payment of such warrants to be considered in the preparation and adoption of budgets for the respective departments. Section 4. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, sign and deliver emergency warrants upon the respective funds for the required expenditures not to exceed the sum mentioned in Section 1 hereof. Section 5. That because of the facts, the adoption of this ordinance is urgent and necessary for the public peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of the City, which emergency is de- clared to exist, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage, approval and lawful publi- cation. Passed first reading by the City Commission January 8, 1947. Passed second reading by the City Commission January 8,1947.
