HomeMy WebLinkAbout1178• ORDINANCE NO. i i4( 1 AN ORDINANCE Relating to minors; prescribing hours when they shall not be on the city streets, except under certain con- ditions; fixing penalties; and repealing Ordinance No. 283. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES FORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any child under the age of fourteen years to be upon the streets and alleys of the City iof Port Angeles between the hours of 9:30 p.m., and 6:00 a.m., un- less accompanied by the parent, guardian or other person having ,custody and control of the said child. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any child under the kkage of eighteen years to be upon the streets and alleys of the City of Port Angeles between the hours of 10:30 p.m., and 6:00 a.m., on flights prior to days when school is in session, and between the lhours of 12 :30 a.m., and 6:00 a.m., on other nights, unless accom- Ipanied by the parent, guardian or other person having custody and control of said child. Section 3. The restrictions in Sections 1 and 2 of this iordinance shall not apply to children on their way home from school - Isponsored social or athletic activities, nor from evening activities y land meetings of recognized organizations established for the train- ling and betterment of youth, nor shall they apply to children while going to and returning from legal employment. Section 4. It shall be the duty of the Police Department of the City upon finding a child wilfully violating the provisions of this ordinance to, upon the first violation, immediately return said child to his home and warn him and his parents, or legal custodian of the provisions hereof. IIion`secOnd and subsequent violations, said child shall be referred to the Juvenile Department of the Superior Court of Clallam County for appropriate action. • • ai Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person, being the parent, guardian or having the custody and control of any child under the age of eighteen years, to wilfully encourage, cause or permit said child to violate the provisions of this ordinance, and upon conviction thereof, said parent, guardian or custodian, shall be subject to a fine for the first offense in the sum of not more 00 than ft� and for subsequent offenses in the sum of not more than $ © .°5 Section 6. Ordinance No. 283 of the City of Port Angeles, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances, in conflict here- with, are hereby repealed.
