HomeMy WebLinkAbout1209ORDINAPNCE NO. 1209 AN ORDINANCE repealing Section 11 and amending Section 13 of Ordinance No. 1169 of the City of Port Angeles entitled, AN ORDIitAiCE Relating to traffic and regulating the use of public streets and highways of the City of Port Angeles; providing for the installation, regulation and control of the use of parking meters; requiring the deposit of coins for the use of parking meters and parking meter zones; defining parking meter zones; providing fort the disposition of revenues derived from parking meters; providing 1 for the enforcement thereof; defining offenses and providing penal- ties; and declaring an emergency. THE CITY COIXISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOViS: Section 1. That Section 11 of Ordinance No. 1169 of the City of Port Angeles, reading as follows: "Every person in whose name a vehicle is registered (licensed) shall be responsible for any parking or angle parking of said vehicle in violation of this code. It shall be no defense to such charge that said vehicle was illegally parked or an;1e parked -by - another, unless it be shown that at such time said vehicle was being used without t>`ie— consent of the registered (licensed) owner thereof." be, and the sane is hereby, repealed. / 5- Section 2. That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 1169 of the City of Port Angeles be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate, or fail to comply with, or who shall counsel, aid or abet any such vio- lation or failure to comply with Section 5 or Section 6 of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not more than One Dollar (;x1.00) and costs for each offense. Provided, however, that any such fine paid within a period of forty -eight (48) hours from the time of attaehin3 to a vehicle a notice that it has been parked in violation of this ordinance, as provided in Paragraph (d) of Sec - tion 7 of Ordinance No. 1169, shall be in an amount not exceeding Fifty Cents (50). Section 3. This ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the people of the City of Port Yngeles; an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after the date of its passage, approval and publication as pro- vided by law. Passed first reading by the City Commission May 25, 1949. Passed second readily; by the City Commission May 25, 1949. Passed third and final reading and adopted by the City Commission June 1 , 1949.
