HomeMy WebLinkAbout1220ORDINANCE NO. /220 AN ORDINANCE stating the facts of an emergency affecting the public health, peace and safety; requiring the unforeseen expendi- ture of funds; providing for the issuance of emergency warrants and declaring an emergency. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. That because of unforeseen and unexpected repairs to equipment of the r'ire Department of the City of Port Angeles occasioned by damage to such equipment caused by emergent and neces- sary use of such equipment to avoid damage to property and danger to the public health and safety of the people of the City of Port . Angeles occasioned by floods, and by reason of unforeseen and un- expected damage to equipment of said Fire Department by reason of a collision involving such equipment, and by reason of necessary and unexpected and unforeseen expenses in connection with moving the en- tire department to newly erected quarters, and maintaining a fire truck at Clallam County Air Port, all of which expenses and expendi- tures could not have been anticipated at the time of preparing the budget for said Fire Department for the year 1949, the amount pro- vided in said budget and the various funds thereof was not sufficient 1 to meet such expenses. That the amount required to meet such ex- penses is in excess of the funds available in said budget by the amount of 2,090.00. Section 2. That the expenditures made in excess of the funds provided in the budget were for the protection and preservation of the public health and safety of the inhabitants of the City of Port Angeles. Section 3. that by reason of the facts stated an emergency exists which requires the issuance of emergency warrants to provide for said expenditures in the amount of 12,090.00. That such emer- gency warrants shall be paid from any monies on hand in the treasury p • • of the City of Port Angeles in the Fire Department funds properly chargeable with such expenditures, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, sign and deliver and the City `Treasurer to pay such emergency warrants on and from such funds. Section 4. That the amount of such emergency warrants shall be included and provided for in the annual budget of the City of Port Angeles for the year 1951, and such budget shall include tax levies sufficient to reimburse the find or funds out of which such emergency warrants are paid. Section 5. That this o rdinance is necessary and urgent for the preservation and protection of the public peace, health and safety of the people of the City of Port Angeles, that an emergency exists, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immedi- ately upon its passage, approval and publication in the manner pro- vided by law.
