HomeMy WebLinkAbout1270• ORDINANCE NO. /2 717 AN ORDINANCE stating the facts of an emergency affecting the public welfare, safety and convenience of the City of Port Angeles; requiring the unforeseen expenditure of funds; providing fifor the issuance of emergency warrants; and declaring an emergency. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. That by reason of the unforeseen and unexpected illness of a deputy in the office of the Clerk of the City of Port Angeles, which illness resulted in the eventual resignation of said Deputy Clerk, it became necessary to employ extra labor and ,help in the office of said City Clerk. That the employment of such extra labor and help necessitated the payment of salaries and wages in excess of the amount budgeted in the budget of the City of Port ;Angeles for such purposes during the year 1951 in the amount of $183.83. That such illness and resignation of such Deputy Clerk, such employment of extra labor and help and the necessity of such extra expenditure of salary and wages could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of making and adopting the budget of the City of Port Angeles for the year 1951. That the amount provided in the budget of the City of Port Angeles for the year 1951 was not, sufficient to meet such extra expenditures and that the same are pin excess of any funds available in said budget by the sum of 483.83. Section 2. That the expenditures to be made in excess of lithe funds provided in the budget for such purposes in the year 1951 (hare for the protection and preservation of the public welfare, safety and convenience of the people of the City of Port Angeles. Section 3. That by reason of the facts stated, an emergency Ilexists which requires the issuance of emergency warrants to provide • • • II•for said expenditures in the amount of v 183.83. That such emer- �'gency warrants shall be paid from any monies on hand in the trea- sury of the City of Port Angeles, properly chargeable with such ex- Ipenditures, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, sign and deliver, and the City Treasurer to pay, such emergency warrants on and from such funds. Section 4. That the amount of such emergency warrants shall be included and provided for in the annual budget of the City of Port Angeles for the year 1953, and such budget shall include tax levies sufficient to reimburse the fund or funds out of which such emergency warrants are paid. Section 5. That this ordinance is necessary and urgent for the preservation of the public welfare, safety and convenience of the people of the City of Port Angeles. That an emergency exists, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
