HomeMy WebLinkAbout1458ORDINANCE NO. /1/QS-? AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles relating to park- ing of vehicles and amending Ordinance No. 1310 in cer- tain particulars. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT 'ANGELES as follows: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 1310, Section 2, is amended to read as follows: "Section 2. The Police Chief of the City of Port Angeles may with the approval of the City Council from time to time by resolution, (1) Establish danger zones and safety zones. (2) Establish loading and unloading zones for freight and passengers. (3) Establish restricted and no parking zones at hotels, public buildings, railway and bus stations, theatres, schools, churches, hospitals and other similar places. (4) Establish taxicab stands and bus stands; install stop and go signals, bells, lights, and other traffic controls where necessary. (5) Restrict or prohibit traffic upon certain streets. (6) Mark lines for vehicles or pedestrian traffic, or for parking vehicles. (7) Mark cross - walks, and lanes at intersections or other points. (8) Establish school crossings and provide for regula- tion and control by student patrol. It (9) Use such disks, standards, buttons, signs, painted lines or other means as shall be convenient to give notice of the existence of such regulations. The Police Chief and Coun- cil shall likewise fix and determine the hours during which such zones shall be maintained for the purpose intended. (10) All previously established and existing traffic signs, and signals, are hereby maintained in full force and effect." Section 2. Ordinance No, 1310, Section 18, is hereby amended to read as follows, "Section 18. It shall be unlawful for any person to park or stand any vehicle in the following places, (a) On any sidewalk, parking strip, or sidewalk area. (b) In any alley, except for loading and /or unloading, or on any bridge, trestle, overpass, or underpass, or the approaches thereto. (c) Railroad crossing. (d) Along side any street excavation so as to obstruct traffic. (e) On any street for'the purpose of repair, washing or greasing of any motor vehicle except for emergency repairs. (f) A private driveway. (g) At any place where traffic signs or markers have been erected. PROVIDED: That the above regulations shall not apply to any official Police, Washington State Patrol or Sheriff's vehicles, while operators are engaged on any official emergency duty, or on necessary official business." • • PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles and approved by its Mayor at a regular meeting of the Council held on the 3e dray of September; 1960.
