Home My WebLink About1570ORDINANCE NO. /310 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles regulating the operation of trucks and trailers and providing for permits. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES as follows: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any three and four axle tractors and semitrailer combinations to operate between two points within limits of the City of Port Angeles, in excess of thirty -six thousand pounds. Additional weight is allowed on semi- trailer used with tractor by permit only. Section 2. Additional tonnage permits will be required on all three axle solo trucks operating between two points, within the city limits of the City of Port Angeles in excess of thirty - six thousand pounds. Section 3. Permits issued for Section 1 and Section 2 shall have a fee of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per annum, for each addi- tional two thousand pounds of excess weight. PERMIT FEE April 1 to Apr. .1 After Oct. 1 Up to 2,000 pounds excess $30.00 $15.00 Up to 4,000 pounds or more $60.00 $30.00 excess Permits issued for Section 2 shall have an addi- tional fee of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) for each additional ton or fraction thereof, over thirty -six thousand pounds. Excess weight not to exceed forty -four thousand pounds. When using a point of beginning and a destina- tion point, both located within the City of Port Angeles, all three or four axle trucks when operating in combination with two or three axle full trailers, will require a City of Port Angeles Restricted Route Permit on the truck which will allow a combined gross weight of seventy -six thousand pounds, provided, they are licensed to seventy T4 thousand pounds by the State of Washington. The weight may be dis -, tributed on either the truck or trailer when a three type axle full ! trailer is used in the combination. The maximum on any set of dual axles will be thirty -two thousand pounds. No additional weight will be allowed on two axle full trailers. The Restricted Route Permit for three vehicle combinations only allows the combination to operate between two points within the City of Port Angeles with a maximum gross weight of seventy -six thousand pounds. Section 4. The maximum weight on a two axle truck operating between two points in the City of Port Angeles, shall be twenty- , eight thousand pounds gross. Not to exceed eighteen thousand pounds on the drive axle. Section 5. Police officers of the City are empowered to detain any vehicle in violation of this ordinance until such load has been reduced to meet requirements of this ordinance. Section 6. It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle in excess of fifteen tons (thirty thousand pounds) over any residen- tial street of the City of Port Angeles; provided, the Chief of Police may issue a written permit if good cause is shown. Section 7. It shall be unlawful to park a loaded truck or semitrailer combination or trailer upon any residential street. Section 8. The Chief of Police may issue a one day excess weight permit. A fee of One Dollar ($1.00) shall be collected for this permit. Section 9. This ordinance with reference to weights shall not apply to trucks carrying an additional tonnage permit issued by the State of Washington.
